Got the center section back for the Okie Doker. Boy, isn't she pretty.

For those who aren't familiar, this is an Old Pontiac center section...or the best and most period correct rear end out there.

We have a guy in Milwaukee who is the master on all things transmission and rear-ends. We always use him to check our stuff out and set up our center sections. He does a great job and you have 100% confidence when you put it back in the car. The best part is hearing him tell all of his stories and how he spends a lot of time fixing the "little 9 inches" as he calls them and never a 9.3.

The gears are 3.42, which is a big change from the 4.11's I was running last year. The whole reason for the change is that I don't need the gears...I want this motor to last and I don't care if I sacrifice a few tenths.

Scott, I know that you spend a lot of time looking at rear-ends at work all day....hope you can control yourself after seeing this beast!

You know, the only bad thing about those Olds Pontiac center sections are that they weight a ton. Every time I move one of those around I am convinced I am gonna strain the milk.

Do you mean bearing size? If so, the new large ford I think they are called the torino ends...

Sounds like big bearing....what is the wheel bolt pattern just guessing you need drums to match.

I am going to get the axles drilled to a chevy bolt pattern so I can drill the drums as well or get new ones from speedway that are multi bolt pattern.

DubG expressed his distaste for cleaning gasket residue off yesterday. I asked him how clean he likes his metal when he's going to weld. He says pretty darn clean. I said well this has to be cleaner than that.
