Having trouble using 700R tranny with a 350 dual quad assperated motor. Can't get it adjusted right. I know the 700R was built to work with a injection type system , but I'm having trouble adjusting the cable from tranny to carb's. I can light the tires up but it's momentary and just shift's on. It's like it shift's to fast. I've adjusted it and it's a little better but I just can't dial it in. Looking for suggestions before I burn up the tranny. This all sit's in a 34 ford coupe.

Who built the trans....or junkyard score?

  3. t.v. cable geometry has to be correct to hit the proper shift points. it is not a kickdown cable.

Anyhow, I had a vette with a 700r4, loved it.....put shifter in first gear, shift it manually....I did everyday....fun too

Both Holley and Edelbrock make carb attachments to correct geometry. ;)

Edelbrock carb kick down bracket # 8026

Holley carb kick down bracket #20-121

Been using the Holley bracket on my 700 r 4 with good results

Keep in mind that with the
t.v. Cable adjustments a little bit of adjustment makes a lot of difference

You have to make the hook-up point on the carb lower on almost all carbs. Just weld a washer to the bottom of the throttle cam. That seems to fix them all.

Be cautious , I fried A 700r4 as a kiddo behind a 454 with a offy port o sonic intake & it doesn't take that lesson but once to make one study it very carefully the next time. Good luck. Flux

THIS /\ is the way to go. TV cable has to move 1:1 with carb throttle, you could figure it out, but much easier and safer to just spend a few bucks and get one that is right out of the box. More to it than just welding a washer on the linkage or just putting the pivot in another place. If it ain't right, you WILL burn the trans up in short order.....

Save your money on that bowtie overdrives kit if you can make the other brackets work.
