I don't know how you plan on finishing up the back end but here's a photoshop rendering of how it would look
    all welded up.

  3. Man this has got to be the best build thread going here and on Insta. My grandfather raced big cars in the late 30's at Oakland and Calistoga. I've always wanted to build a single seater. Great job!!

That car was so sweet Tommy! That rear nerf bar gets my wheels spinning. I hope to get you down the beach in this car!

Great thread...I started one with a '26 T frame, but bettered it with a welded up version similar to yours, with the round front and perch.
I have an early '20s front axle, Elliot style, no front brakes. 221 flathead, '39 box.
That 'desirable' BMW steering box comes out of an early '70s Bavaria, non power. Turns the correct way and sector shaft is 13" from center of box. Light weight, too!

[IMG][IMG]cut a heart shaped hole in the shell just like they did way back when. Also cut some mesh for the opening out of an old Model A radiator guard.

I honestly have no idea what the heart means If anything. I just know I haven't seen anyone do it lately. I like to incorporate old styling cues into all my projects. I think it adds to the "soul" if you know what I mean.

Vintage Cool...I do get it and really enjoy that and thanks for doing a stand up job of it. It is a signature of what we do here.

Mario Andretti once said, "These cars are like wild animals and if you can learn to tame them you just might not get yourself killed". He also said that some of his racing buddies would send him Christmas cards in July just in case.

I remember meeting Joe many years ago at an old Dracut Speedway Reunion. My father talked to him about racing in New England back in the day. Some where I am sure I have the picture of my dad in Joe's Midget.

I love the single seat speedster. I have an old Model A powered one I am collecting parts for.
