There's another car, 1931 Lincoln, at the casino, or there was, that used to belong to Dutch Schultz. I saw it in a window of an old carpeting store in yucaipa, California back in like the late 80s after it was unearthed after having been a circus side show from back in the 60s I believe. Another cool car to see.

  4. They would of never been caught without the guy that ratted on them. They were always one step ahead of the law. Ya they got into firefights and his brother got shot but they kept riding. Trust no one. Outlaws live forever.....

  5. things sure was different back then, we knew who the bad people were and who were the good guys.

I saw one once about 1951 n a semi where you paid to go in and see it-don't know if it was the real one or not. Many years ago an old guy gave me a federal warrant (like in the post office) for Bonnie and Clyde-good condition-still have it too.

Frank Hamer was armed with a .35 Remington Model 8. The 180gr. FMJ version will shoot thru several '34 Fords at a time ....

  8. Big Dad, was that in Sioux Falls? It was at the big Grand Opening for the first KMart in Sioux Falls on South Minnesota Avenue. The crowd was huge and I was there to see it too. Crazy!

The drivers side rear door glass, in the photo on page 2, is all shot up; but in the "car display" photos, that same window is intact, but rolled halfway down, while other glas remains shot up and broken (???). Seems odd they would replace that glass, and not the others. In this day and age, the car would be destroyed as "biohazard" due to all the blood. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

What you are seeing is plexi glass. there are pieces of plexi to hold what is left of the original glass.

I know, right? Its still way nicer than the piece of shit 4 door I started with.

I'm sure it wasn't cheap to buy, whenever it was sold to the casino. I wonder when the cheap hack job lettering was added to it.

I am getting kinda old and short of patience with misimformation Frank was not at that time a ranger nor did the governor of Texas send him. If you must waste time and memory at least go to Springhill La. and check the actual records and news paper files and other pictures on file I had a distant relative killed by them and a family friend was once married to a member of the barrow family and I assure you that this is not the place for this topic.

Thats a sticker. But you can see at one time where the car had been lettered and later sanded off.

You two go ahead and cut the car up! I'd for one embrace history and sell that car to the high bidder and buy a real coupe !

Back in the late 80's my Grandmother took a trip out to there and she sent me a post card from Whiskey Petes with a picture of the car on it. It is still stuck to the lid of my tool box. Mainly because she knew how much I love old cars and because she was a 24 year old women at the time of their deaths and had recently had my mother. I had all but forgotten about the car but back in 1968 my best friend's Dad took him and I and my little brother to the Milwaukee World of Wheels. The car was there behind a wall like you would see at a carnival. You heard the sounds of sirens and machine guns in the back ground. It cost extra to see it and my friends Dad did not think it was the kind of thing two 13 and a 10 year old, should see. A good call on his part. Still think its morbid! As far as the car , I would love to find a 34 that well preserved . But as far as that one goes, with all the misfortune's that anyone involved with it had. It very well may have been the first coming of Christine!!!:eek:

In the 50's I got a job working for Toddy Motion Picture Co in Atlanta Ca. I was paid to help deliver and set up the Bonnie and Clyde display they had a shot up 34, couldn't tell if it was the real one or not, but we also had display case's with guns and had full size photos of them before and after the shooting, the guns were plastic but in the case's they looked real to the paying crowds. I do remember seeing what looked like old dried blood stains inside the car but this was a long time ago.

That car was at the Iowa State Fair years ago, I remember looking at a shot up Ford. There was a shoot out with the Bonnie and Clyde gang outside of Dexter, Iowa, it's not that far from me. I remember old-timers talking about it. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/42539

  25. Those are the best quality photos I've ever seen, of that car. Thanks for posting them.

  26. My high school girlfriend's family had a story about her grandfather when he was a storekeeper in a small town in Arkansas (I don't recall what town it was. This was 40 years ago when I heard it). Apparently Bonnie and Clyde drove into town and came into the store. Clyde left Bonnie in the store with him for a few minutes while he ran some kind of errand. He said he chatted with her for a while and in a few minutes Clyde came back and got her they took off out of town. I suppose it's possible the old guy might have been full of it but he never seemed like a bullshitter to me.

Mr Urrey brings up a very valid point, these depression era outlaws were cruel, cold hearted criminals who brought a lot of death, pain and heartache. Everyone knows Bonnie and Clyde's names, but not many can name even one of their victims. Those victims paid with their lives to give the outlaws their fame.

When was the last time you saw a bank guard? Bank deposits are insured, or at least they can print more anyway. In those pre-nationalization days when somebody robbed the bank they were probably just out the money. Not sure how they handled it exactly but it couldn't have been good, but I bet that's why practically the whole town would give chase "in the good old days".

2 of the 3 banks we use here in Long Beach have bank guards. Chase being the one that doesn't.
On the other hand one of them with a guard was robbed about 2 years ago, the robber took the money and ran through the parking lot and a McDonalds throwing money around to create a diversion. They never did catch him so I'm not sure the guard does much good.
