YES!!! pull the pin, set the whole thing on fire!

with a satin finish... metallic silver shot on the bumpers would be almost fitting.

The 57's have a place in my heart also. I had a black 2dr Ht in the early 60's. Great highway cars. I really like the one that twochops on here has

Heater and defroster still work?Don't those have the heater box with a fan under the drivers side seat?

As of now, no. Someone cut the feed and return hoses to the heater core. Could mean the core is junk, could just mean it got warm in the summer, they didn't have the brains to install a ball valve cut off and thought" we'll I'm never gonna drive this in the winter so…hack it!…I'll run a garden hose through it in the spring and see what's what. Its firewall mounted, there is no heart under the set. There was in my 54 so I understand what you are talking about.

They are really growing on me . But the hood and maybe roof and deck need them too

Well, that's obviously what the guy who painted the flames as going for, and as far as getting the Watson style ( colors and shape…flow) he was pretty spot on. So yeah I will probably try and match it on the hood and maybe the roof and deck for this season while I'm running the car with this look . I don't want to get into serious strip down and body work this year.
It's kinda strange. The owner went after the Watson thing, but didn't finish, and did mediocre pin striping on the hood and deck instead. They also installed what is easily 3-4 grand worth of custom interior…but painted the rear bumper, tail lights and grill bar all black. If it were me I woulda spent the 4K on chrome and 30 bucks on Mexican blankets.

I don't care for the blacked out chrome either. But I'm sure you'll be changing that as money allows. Unless you'd be doing the flames yourself maybe the chrome would be a bit less. You might also consider some used parts in good shape instead of re-chroming what's there. Do some searching there are Buick boards

I was 7 years old when Dad brought home a brand new 1957 Buick Special. Two tone red and white. I remember it vividly. It had the wonder bar radio. It had a dimmer type switch on the floor that would change radio stations also. It had what Dad called a fishwife speedometer. Set it to any speed and a buzzer would go off if you went faster than the setting. He was always cussing that thing. Dad had had that car for about a year and a half when a 3 foot diameter oak tree crushed it in a wind storm. Enter the new 1959 white Buick. Dad loved his Buicks.

Buick used that into at least the early 70's. A friend's '71 Riv had it, pretty cool!

OP, your Buick's lookin' good dropped a little in the tail!

Coolest of cars with that rear window and spine! Love those.
They probably found out that getting the bumpers off and the tail light housings off are a huge pain when they have rust and/or stripped threads or rust welded nuts on them. I took apart my 55 and 54 and it wouldnt be easy to put them back on. BUT, chrome is the only way to go! Nothing looks better in the end. Just a pain and $$$$$
I found a 57 and should have bought it to graft that 57 rear window's onto my 54. Best window ever.

I dig '57 Buicks. Nice car.

Did Buicks ever have stainless on the sedan door posts? Stainless around the windows could make those door posts visually disappear if you like the look of a hardtop. Some prefer the sedan.

Did you remove some paint from the bumper? Could be some of the Generals good chrome hiding
    there.

I believe some of the new spary on chrome is quite good and way cheaper than proper chrome. May worth considering for the bumpers.

  26. JVK54 on my 58 buick the heater was under the seat too. Just blew cold air .till I found out the P.O. had the hoses hooked up backwards after that I had great heat. I think I used about 20 feet of heat hose to replace it all. LOL. Bruce.
