Technical Spindle removal, 48 chevy orig suspension

    see the threaded cross shaft that the spindle clamps to , it has a hex in the end you put a hex wrench in and turn it out. The threaded shaft is an off center part it is used to set caster and camber. It should come out easy.

    Make sure to have the weight of the car on the lower a arm ,or you will have a hard time turning it. ALSO the spring may jump out and hurt you.

    Ok, can't seem to budge it either way. Tried heat too. I'll keep after it.

  14. I have done it a couple of years ago, can't remember any LH threads on there though. That cut looks nasty, couldnt budge the king pin? I know i used a lot of heat , a lot of cussin, and a BFH!

    Hahaha! I'm sure about the cussin & BFH!

    I'm trying to remove the spindle bushing at the bottom of the pic.

    You can look at the new bushings and figure out if the threads are left or right hand.

    I don't have new bushings, although maybe should look into new....
