My pic as well, that is NICE. Looks like an AMBR contender from the mid/late fifties, nice! I really doubt it will win though, not trendy enough.

That was my pick, until I scrolled down and saw the Lavender '32 RP. It was all over at that point.

  3. Custom mix Washington blue...got it,but that color is so dark,it still rates in my list of favorites. HRP

  4. Nicely put Highlander but a huge shout out needs to go to Eric Black who worked with Troy on the design of this car. I have seen a number of his rendering/designs for some of the other contenders as well.

Looking the Mulholland over in EB's rendering it evokes a wave of class never before seen at the GNRS, it has to do with the images color at time of conception. IMG_9342.PNG

With that said though I think that it should've been in the concepts shade of color, but there's nothing wrong with a Kool Kustom in a shade of Red.

    To your point: roof

It was no where to be found on Friday - I can assure you; I looked! :) I really liked this car and amazed at the thoughtfulness and craftsmenship the longer I careened my little next in every direction. And I liked the '32's - I have a black Brizio '32 myself - but unless the judges want to paint every future picture with one ‘brush’ - Brookville body, Edelbrock engine and the painter de jour, you'll have them designing them like a country western song - very systematic with a small algorithm thrown in for kicks. I think Troy takes it home this year. Just saying.

I'm thinking this one should've been in contention as it's every bit as nice as what's in the floor and it harks Hot Rod in every direction, it been raced, street driven as I've witnessed this myself and it's never been submitted. Isn't this what this show should be all about? Think Bill Niekamp and his Race N Show 29 Roadster and later Pete's future partners car at the time if their acquaintance ;). IMG_9333.JPG

That's a good thing. It's best kept in the trunk. The car looks like a zika baby with the roof up. Gorgeous with the roof down.

    So,
    if I have this right,
    after 5 pages of posts,
we have managed to narrow it down to 14 already.
    Excellent!

    I'm with you @Cyclone Kevin
Time a street fighting hot rod won the "ultimate" show prize.

time to reflect on the life and times of Pete, and honour him with his name on a perpetual trophy.

@HEMI32 thanks for laying out this thread for us to enjoy. Thanks also to the photographers for the visuals and also to all the others for their additional coverage of this show so important to the culture we enjoy.
I musn't leave out thanks to the Men and Women who create the epic rides that influence and help celebrate the fun of it all. Good Job...;)

I was told the winner is announced at six Sunday evening. Has anyone ever explained how the judging team works, or what they look for? As nice as all the cars are, it is like judging a bowl of fruit, some have tops and fenders, lots of chrome or none, just how do you do it? Bob

The Packard is beautiful! But the AMBR should be a Ford, flathead, Black, and look like a Hot Rod! IMO
