I really like this cover. I found the image and have done a bit of work to it. But the cover to me has such a great feel to it.

Look at the headlight bar on that 32. He's built a complete bar, not dropped an original one. I must apologize Geoff as being a 32-5W I'm more interested in the car than your cover LOL

BTW Geoff do you have copies of all these early mags in your collection or do you have a source of early mag covers?

I do like that 5W Peter. Did you notice it is channeled, hence the bigger than normal drop on the headlight bar. I actually removed an Anglia from this image, chopped the coupe and lowered the front.
When I started doing these covers I was using covers from my extensive collection ( around 8000 ), But I came across a site that has images of all the major titles and many others done in the US. Images up until the 70's. So this has saved me a bit of time in photographing or scanning.

PS my researching is unearthing a lot of interesting images that I haven't seen before. That is another aspect of doing these covers I am really enjoying!

I didn't realise that car was channelled Geoff but I can't see the running board or frame in that shot. I assume that feature was early 60's or late 50's being a channelled/not chopped car. Is he running a Y-block in that and if so it is out of the mainstream. Chopping the top and lowering the front is definitely an improvement.

    Thankyou for the replies guys.
It's been a long haul to get to 100 pages. Somedays I think I am the only one interested in this thread.
Yeah Peter it has a Y-block. The size of the grille shell and the relationship of the engine to the firewall tells me it's channeled.

Great work Geoff. I'm a bike fan and that Herbert Cammed race Pan is spot on!

  9. That channeled 32 5 window is quite a honey-trap, first impression is 'understated but well balanced', but upon closer inspection full of great details and features, heavily modified, and yet still in a strikingly well packaged bundle. Very cool car, and great use of colour on that cover.
Appreciate the effort to create these covers Geoff, and congrats to making the 100. Looking forward to the future, and hopefully trust Tony's health and mobility improves, and the next chapter of the coupe build given a fresh lease on life, with opportunity for creativity from you both, going to be great.
    Cheers,

Drewfus, yes that is a neat 5W.
I know many of you will like the image used on this next cover.

You never know FB, you might pick it up for a song.
Wardog I beleive the bike was owned by Sonny Scott.
Here's a new cover in the chop or not to chop series.

Ah ha, Gary. I was going for the cool factor. I guess the short folk aspect is just an added bonus.
Thankyou for your comments and I am glad you liked it.

Here's a new cover, this one also has '34 roadsters on it. Funny how these work out at times.

  21. I've always been a big fan of 'fenderless' hot rods, especially roadsters without awkward roofs, but that upper 3/4 shot on the Dec1951 cover is awesome, reminds me very much of Lance Sorchiks roadster, but with a tan top, white walls, and front bar, top shelf all the way.

Hey Drewfus. Yeah tops on roadsters need to be just right. I played around a lot with the top on that roadster on the Hop Up cover, as well as the Auto craftsman cover. Also lowered the back of the roadster on the Hop Up cover.

Love the hop up. At shows we often sit the kids on my running boards when it's time to have a snack.

What a great shot Wardog, I can see another cover featuring your A coupe. I guess it may be chopped as I chopped the coupe and the tudor on that Hop Up cover..

Here's the new cover Wardog. If your children walk with a limp now, it's because your a coupe is to low and very uncomfortable for them to sit on the running boards. But I bet that won't stop them, it looks like a great spot to sit and have a rest and a snack.
