To answer your question from Post #938. The chopped Merc has moved to Wisconsin. The new owner has added a few touches of his own. It now has a black roof and trunk with lots of pin stripping. A new black leather interior has also been added.

I love those 80's pics. Man, all I wanted growing up was a custom Merc. Still hard to believe I have one, even though I had to wait until 2008. LOL

 

Mercs are my favorite custom a few more throw backs

 

Here’s another Mercury Pickup. It’s from Florida and showed up in Kenosha in ’92.

 

… Here’s a photo of my 1st car a 50 Merc Convert the photo was taken around Lafayette NY about 1956 by Ed Fish, I wonder if he is still around, I know the Merc isn’t. The Black Merc had a 2x2 Fenton, mild Cam nice pipes, 3-Spd overdrive, Louvered Hood.

 

Peckerhead, any info on this '51 Merc? I love the way the windshield is laid back, unless its an optical illusion...

Pretty sure that's just stock 49/50 front guards and bar. The back of the bar has the cut out to clear the center grille piece that has been removed on this car.

That's what I thought but the ones I've found have the Mercury script in the bar and that ones smooth, I'm just trying to narrow down my search thank you though

I have guards with both , smooth and Mercury , and was wondering what the story was ?

The ones that have Mercury stamped in them I'm pretty sure are rear bars and the smooth are the front

My 50 doesn't have a bar in the front just the guards or a cut out for the center grill piece either. Don't know how to post a picture but will try.

 

Here's my '50 at Stray Kats last year. Just had got it on the road.
