Fenders on my roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by thommoina33, Dec 2, 2016.

  1. Fenders, fenders, fenders!

  2. It looks great without fenders, but will be even better with them. In addition, your car will look clean even when you run in bad weather. Greetings from Sweden. Åmsele.jpg

^^If that roadster roasting the tires doesn't get your blood pumping you're not alive anymore

We aren't a problem, had police and highway patrol pull up next to me commenting on the car, always in the positive, bigger fish to fry.

There's always one to throw a spanner in the works.

I like them both ways, but on a Roadster pre 33 I prefer no fenders. If you are going with fenders please go with factory fenders with running boards. I have never seen a made set of fenders that does not make the care look like shit IMO. I hate the cars with motorcycle fenders and what not on them and without running boards they just look dumb and unfinished.

Like them both ways, without is more "rebel look", with is more "original."
It all comes down to how you want to feel while driving it.

I love your roadster the way it sits without the fenders.

I like fenders but not on my car; it would be nice not to have all the stone chips though.

  13. put them on just to call it done, and if you're not in favour, take them off. Have cake, eat it.

Thanks Lynn, I'll fit them up, easily removed when I've had enough of them

I love the curves on those fenders, kind of sexy even.

  17. I'm a fender guy but honestly I wouldn't run them on that car.

Use the fenders for another project. That would give you the excuse to build another Hot Rod.

    It's easy.
The pics prove it: Without fenders girls are interested in your car - with fenders guys are coming.

My opinion is that fenders make everything look better including roadsters. Cabriolets definitely.

    Thanks for the photo shop.
Here's the update, I fitted up the front fenders and running boards over the weekend, struggling like hell with poor fitting fender braces, anyway I packed up for the day Saturday night, my wife walks out Sunday morning and says it now looks like an old mans car, no longer a hot rod!!!
I'm far from a grey beard, 46 actually.
I'm not saying only old people drive fendered cars, but damn that was a low blow.
So anyway I removed them for now, our annual river city reliability run is on in a couple of weeks, I'll drive it as a hi boy and then take it from there. I'll continue to paint and prep and have them standing by for when the mood strikes.

  22. Think of it more as a 'Gentlemans car', classy, and vibrant with distinction, as I can appreciate the gut wrenching associated with the alternative 'old' description.

  27. Don't do it, what Australia is lacking is true hi boy roadsters and cycle fenders just don't do it for me.

    Both look great.
I'd probably go fenderless though whenever I decide to do a roadster. Less metal to paint and upkeep.

Fenderless is cool until... rain, gravel, mud, etc.. Especially when turning left. Navigator usually feels the same about turning right.
