I restored one of those! #501

These were factory supercharged with a 289. Very cool!

Always liked the horizontal grille treatment on the '57 Monarch. Let's see how it looks cleaned up a bit:

A little rough, but you get the idea.

    Hey Gary,
My mother told me that these shots were of my dad leaving on a boat from the same harbor in Los Angeles during 1937. The boat looked very similar. What a small world. He was going on a tour of Japan with his semi pro baseball team out of Los Angeles. Baseball was/is big time in Japan. upload_2017-1-9_8-42-8.png upload_2017-1-9_8-42-29.png

These were screenshots from an old movie dated 1937. Some family member took these shots and gave them to my mom after my dad was gone. He lived/grew up in San Pedro, went to San Pedro HS, was at Long Beach City College in 1933 (earthquake) when it was located at the LB Wilson campus, and graduated from USC in downtown Los Angeles.

He was playing semi-pro baseball after college and the team got an offer to go to Japan to play some teams there.

Hey, that's my mom and dad's '56 Bel Air and trailer! I was here too, (I might have taken the picture) Lassen, \'56.jpg on my last vacation with the family before striking out on my own. The pic was taken near Mt. Lassen in June of 1957. A year later I was towing this same trailer from job site to job site, with my '57 Chevy ragtop. Met my wife-to-be (and still is 56 years later) in Roseville at a trailer court. Her dad also had a travelling job so they were gypsies too!!

I always liked this car. In its simplicity it was one of the most beautiful sprinters I ever saw.
