Met him once down under a few years ago when he visited our shores but didn't see him at Deuce Day, saw his cool little green T parked up. Another legend!

    Sad day, sad week.

Two greats of the hot rod world - Nick Arias Jnr and now Pete Chapouris II both in the same week.

A nu.ber of years ago I was taken to the workshop that was Pete and Jake's in Temple City by a great friend of mine.

Saw where the hub of modern hot rodding was conceived. Felt a great affinity to the area.

That's the effect that Pete had on this sport.

    RIP.

Wow , so sad he was a down to earth Hot Rodder . Would stop what he was doing to pass on info to help a Rodder out . Meet him a few times and had a few Marine chuckles with him . R I P , he will truly be missed , a true pioneer in our hobby .

So sorry to hear this. RIP Pete. That R & C cover of the 2 coupes is my favorite all time. I didn't realize he was on the HAMB. What's his screen name?

RIP. Pete built the hot rod that got me hooked on 34 Ford coupes - and in my opinion, the greatest hot rod of all time. Understand he suffered a stroke, went far too young.

Only knew him by reputation and TV Shows, but, seemed like a great, down to earth guy. My condolences to his family and friends. Just goes to show that you should enjoy what time you have, because it can all go pear shaped at any time.

A legend in our hobby and instrumental in bringing back the traditional Hot Rod with his SO-CAL Speed Shops. He was always a gentleman to me and I worked with him when he was at SEMA to bring GM as a major sponsor. He will be missed by many. My condolences to the family.

My Dad just called me to tell me. I've got pics of Pete feeding me a bottle on the sun porch in 1977. Literally knew him my whole life. Praying for him and his family.

  28. image.jpeg On Nov 10,2016, l flew from Southeast Texas for 4 days of California speed shops,ElMirage, and Pomona.Friday,Nov11th,my friend and I visited SoCal shop and visited with Pete. He was funny, witty, and a great guy toward 2 total strangers from Texas visiting. He spent over an hour showing us the entire SoCal shop. When he found out I had a Henry 32 cabriolet, he wanted to show me his Henry cabriolet. I asked if I could take a pic of him and my friend; he gladly obliged and this was the result. I even commented to him what a great, funny host he was. What a shame he left this earth at a relatively young age. I would not be exaggerating when my friend and I both agreed that Pete "made our day". RIP Mr. Chapouris!
