  3. Here's the "fuzzy" close-up of the roadster's steering wheel:

... and a couple of pics of a '42 Mercury steering wheel:

Maybe 'Schmoozo' was referring to the exhaust outlets. They could have been moved to the lower pan.
Love the trailer hitch! A testament that the rodder's one car was used for racing, transportation, hauling trailers, and all the rest!

OK, horn button is either that one or as close as can be determined from the ball of fuzz shown. Stop searching and shoot me your mailing address.

Got it. One verify...button I have has 3 nubs on back to latch onto wheel. My assumption is that all '41-8 passenger wheels are stracturally the same, but better check. Does the Merc wheel have three notches in rim that takes the horn button? If not, I have a couple more small centers to search out.

  10. This is Grandpa Lee, we had pizza last night, he brought the original negative of this photo taken on his camera. He was the original photographer for hot rod magazine, but this is 1948 he said, infront of his other friend Lee's speed shop. small world.

I found this the other day on the Screwdriver's Car Club site...posted it on Drag Cars in Motion thread but thought it could go here also...looks very much like the Jack Calori roadster in the far lane. This is at Santa Ana, '51 or '52. Given that the car has whitewalls, I guess that this is after Jack sold his roadster to his dentist, whose name was Potts, if I remember correctly. Jack HATED whitewalls, but Dr Potts put them on the roadster after he bought it. I think he asked Jack to drive it at the lakes, but Jack refused because of the whitewalls (I don't know if this last part is accurate, may be just a bench racing story!). The Calori roadster is racing Fred Larsen's A roadster. Fred would go on to Bonneville fame with his roadsters and streamliner.

Yes he's not racing jack raced it a few times at El mirage for Potts then he sold it after the Trans blew. I think this picture the Sutherland brothers owned it and raced it.
