It is, he took the Balch Offy midget to B'ville in 48 and ran just shy of 140 mph.

I'd love to see a picture taken about 10 seconds after green!

That probably would make the " big one" at Talladega look like a rush hour fender bender.

You and me both! A little dusting of snow is a good reason for having one, correct?

  13. I have more than a dusting of snow. The county where I live doesn't know what end of a snow plow to use.

My Brother bought a similar one from a Junk Yard in the early '90s, It had been a 'Ranch Truck' on a ranch in Corrigan, Texas. Had 259, 4speed LWB, never got it running, he sold it to a friend in our Studebaker Chapter, who restored it. I've seen more 'Napco' Chevies, Stude 4x4's are really rare, and hard to find parts for.

  16. If their drive-line parts were anything like their engines then needing parts shouldn't be an issue. Studes were supposedly built tougher than anybody else.

imagesZKJFJKKO.jpg I would imagine taking a corner at high speeds of 15 mph was a concern!

We should all get down on our knees and thank every jalopy driver who ever lived because they gave us a Indy 500 champion, Parnelli Jones, and they made the 1932 Ford a great car, otherwise the 1932 Ford would have a modern day, current value and relevance comparable to a 1971 Pinto.

There is one of these for sale. I just got my January copy of the Studebaker Drivers Club magazine Turning Wheels. The ad says only eleven were made in 1958 for domestic service. Completely restored and only $35,000. These are called Studebaker NAPCO 4x4 trucks.

Some drivers never raced out of their own state, but they had fun. This 3W coupe was our local champ in '56 & '57. Marion Hoff and Jake.jpg
