  2. NICE! I always thought that 61/62 Fords should have been a fastback. That square roof slapped on that round body never made any sense to me.

  13. This photo was taken at Asheville-Weaverville Speedway. My Grand Mother lived across the street (Clarks Chapel
Rd.) I used to sneak in under the fence. I was 10 yrs old. My Dad ran limited Sportsman here. The track was 1/2 mile.

I love the old pics. My stepdad race at San Gabriel, Saugus, Corona. Always drove a 1963 Ford Galaxies #33. Usually white, but did have a gray car and an orange car as well. His name was Bobbie Prescott. We lived in West Covina. Always looking for old pictures. They disappeared when he past away.

    That is a '35-36 FoRD 3-window coupe.
And this thread needs a bump.

Some very cool pre-war "Coupe" photos from Ascot Park Gardena Figure-8's during the 1969 racing season.

WOW! I'm not so sure I'd want those long straight bars coming off the radiator protection, like that old sedan has, pointed towards my head!

That's also a pretty unique way of controlling the lean many of those old cross spring Fords had. Gene

Dick Bown, "The Captain." Photo looks like taken at the north turn of the now-defunct Portland Speedway, note the infamous blackberry bushes that snagged many an errant racecar. He is the father of former Busch and Cup competitor Chuck Bown. This car was a fierce competitor at both the 1/2 mile track and at the 1/4 mile track at Jantzen Beach, which is now a shopping mall.

Tricknology, The nature of this board is 65 and older traditional hot rods. The site owner let a lot of stuff slide on here because the cars looked to fit into the forums intent. This thread got way out of hand and the forum owner provided a new location where any racing photos could be posted. The guys there are many of the guys that competed back in the day, and are still somewhat active. They would be thrilled to join you in remembering racing in the past.
www.dogfightmag.com You want to select "The Forums" in the top column choices, then check "Vintage Modified" thread. The Modified group is more active, and they won't mind the stock cars much. They would be happy to have a new member join them. There is a "Vintage Stock Car" section, but its been pretty dead for a couple of years. Gene
