  7. Hey, that's @brewsir's old Merc! I followed his build on it right here on the HAMB. Man, that goes back a ways---I'd guess that was in 2001 or 2002.
He started with an old 4 door sedan that nobody wanted and turned it into an awesome sled. All homebuilt including the Carson style top.
One of the neat things brewsir did was to install a Ford shoebox dash. Eventually it was painted by Gene Winfield, but I can't remember if brewsir still owned it then or the new owner had it painted.
I sure miss seeing brewsir around here. He has the knack and has built some really cool cars over the years..........E

Saw this kool picture in my Kustomrama newsletter. Mroz Brothers' 1950 Ford outside the first Alexander Brothers shop in Detroit in 1960. Bill Hines was quite busy painting Candy, being overloaded with work he hired the Alexander Brothers to do bodywork. The Alexander Brothers didn't do Candy paint jobs, so they traded work for Candy instructions and paint on their own jobs. Their first major paint job was on The Mroz Brothers' 1950 Ford, which received a Candy paint job under Bill's watchful eye. Photo by Dave Jenkins.

Are the headlight buckets 60 Buick?

  17. Sure look like it.

  18. Looked it up and found some interesting info. On Rik's site: "This 50 Ford Custom was owned & built by the Mroz Brothers of Chicago. They then had the A-Bros restyle it, inserted is construction and semi-finished photos. This is still the way it sits forty years later in the garage, they just lost interest in it."
    http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_..._cars/alexander_brothers/1950-ford-mroz-brot/
Also found this: "Back in the late 50's, the Mroz Brothers from Chicago, Illinois built a 1950 Ford called the Titian Tudor which they showed around the midwest taking top honors. In the 60's they decided to take it to the A-Bros for a make over. Which the A-Bros did, see construction photos. It left the A-Bros, ready to put back together and has never been seen since? Mike A. said he heard that it was destroyed in a Building collapse.?"

Dave Jenkins' great 1957 Chevy can be seen in the background. He bought it new, and still owns it!

EDIT: RIP, Dave Jenkins (See next post.)

I may have forgotten, but am still sorry to hear. RIP.
60 years is a long time to care for a custom. I don't know when the car changed hands, but I trust the new owner will continue to treat the car with the respect that it deserves. (AND that it continues to be driven and shown.)
It has seen a few changes in its day, but the current look has always been my favorite. A real classic!

IMHO a '57 Buick grille is the perfect choice for a '57 Chevy. GM should have done that to begin with.

  23. Dave always said he would be buried in that car....another good guy gone...

There was recently a discussion about a ShoeBox Ford with '55 Plymouth tail lights.
They also look great on this Merc! (posted by finhead4ever, on another site).

Wow, too much going on with the paint on that Bird/Vette/?! seaweed-flamed car to tell what's what.

It's a shoe box chopped and sectioned with a bumper from a square bird

The chopped Boattail Riv had 20 in wide rear wheels possibly owned by his dad of Scott`s Interiors out of Louisville. Then they might have a connection to the chopped 51 Merc(blue with scallopes) that`s also tubbed as well.
