With the warm 50 degree day I got some things done on the 55'... Felt good to get after it again!
Had to pull out fuel cell to mount new 10AN fitting. Mounted short 10AN hose & new McRobb inline fuel filter & removed old fuel filter. Connected to the 10AN hose I had previously ran along frame from back to front. Really looks nice & clean...
Got radiator hoses & Radiator mounted up on mock up motor. Also mounted up water temp & oil pressure lines, so that's cool. Just need to get tunnel ram back & mount carbs, new McRobb fuel pressure regulator & small fuel filter. Then I can figure 8AN fuel line from McRobb fuel pump to Regulator... I'm curious to see where or how high carbs & air cleaners sit! Might be looking for another hood to cut up! LOL...
Hope everyone else is getting after there builds too! The Meltdown will be here sooner than you think!

Started on the rear end in my 55. Took the center section apart and it looks really good. Basically, the only part that broke last July, were the ring gear bolts. The ring and pinion look OK, as does the P-case, posi unit, and bearings.

Since it was a 3 series posi, with 4:88 gears, I was using a spacer. This was actually a good thing, since about 95% of the damage was to the spacer, with basically no damage to the posi unit. The spacer was really chewed up by the snapped off ring gear bolts.

Instead of just getting a new spacer and ring gear bolts, an (almost), NOS 4 series posi unit was bought......Along with a set of bearing cap girdles, and severe duty ring gear bolts.

We should start a pool to see who get the coveted number 1 because they are faster on the mouse button than everybody else.

    Previous Email on Required Info:
There are some new rules on rim width, and type. RIMS have to be correct....... The First Year I had the wrong rims.....and "Yeah they were ugly".......still have them, and they are still ugly

Rulea are for a good reason to get the Vintage Drag Look Correct. When you look at the # of spectators they have it right. Nothing is more exciting than pulling to the line with the stands full.......your heart beat goes up......hope nothing breaks.... and you don't miss a gear. :)

The kid and I have sent in the required information. This year we plan to NOT have the transmission in and out of the car 6 times the week of the event.

Well I nearly set my email up to be sent automatically with Boomerang. Then I decided it just didn't seem right to do it that way. So I set my alarm for 11:50. Then I took my daughter to the movies, turned my sound off, forgot to turn it back on and the slept till 6 a.m. this morning. I got registered just behind Saltflats. Don't worry James I got your back.

I also received a confirmation email at 12:00 am. Too bad an email time stamp doesn't show seconds..Or tenths of seconds.

If you poke around on your email program, you might find an option to show the header, which does have seconds. But we all know drag races are won by thousandths of a second.

    I deliberately hesitated a few seconds...figured if I got number 56, I'd buy a lottery ticket.

    Quick update for you guys...

about 60 people had their e-mails come in between 11:59 PM (RED LIGHT!) and 12:01 AM....

We have received over 300 different entries as of noon today...

The cool part is that many of the cars are new and have not attended in the past.

Now I have some work to do going through everything and replying to everyone....

Well, as bulletproof as a 55 - 64 Chevy rear axel can be. LOL. The posi unit came from Ohio, and the bearing cap girdles are from Alberta Canada.

Also planning on freshening up the 301. It hasn't been apart since 1998, and could use some going through.....Especially, the cam and valve train. The cam and lifters are still the same 375 / 327 Corvette cam that was installed in about 1971. Have a new Crane "Blueprint Series" to replace it with.

Also, have a NOS Isky 550 Magnum cam and lifters from the 1960's? Don't have any specs for the Isky, though. When I bought the Isky, I thought that it was a 550 Super Le Gerra.....At least that is what the cam card is for.
