Have 7" Ansen's slots on my '57 Chevy and looking to put on largest tire that will fit. Back in the 70's a H-70-15 was about it. I'll be mounting the wheel by jacking up the frame (not the housing) so as to give more access? 235-255- 78-15 235-255-70-15 no idea ?

I have 7-inch wide 15-inch cragar wheels with stock located spring shackles.

I am running BFG T/A 235/60-15 tires which have about 26 inch tire height.
That is about the largest wheel/ tire combo I could fit without extra effort. I want to be able to change a flat in the road if necessary.

255/60 -15's on the rear of my '7, around 5/8" clearance between tire and lip. Maybe you can go wider if you roll the lip.

IMG_0152.JPG I have 255/60R15s on the rear of my 57 Nomad. Takes a little extra effort to mount or remove but I think it is worth the effort for The LOOK.
