Well, maybe not as a finished car.

The overall look of the car doesn't do it for me but the injected Rocket is interesting.

You know you have a great car in the making when it looks great at every stage of final assembly. Although anxious to see it finished, I can wait until the fenders are on.

I saw a fenderless '40 several years ago that was being built as a serious, finished car. I thought it was awful, and couldn't imagine anybody doing it with a straight face. I DO like the front 3/4 picture on the previous page, though. I think the car has good, athletic proportions from that angle. Of course the rest of it needs to be assembled.

Been said before, BUT ... "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Once fenders became an integral part of the overall streamlined design, their absence becomes very conspicuous. Just sayin'

Looking great Tony. Can't wait to see it in person. Sure looks like you could have made GNRS.

I think Don could have made it, with some heavy breathing, but Sid was booked up and couldn't fit it in in time. It's all right because I don't want anybody to be rushing.

We've been working on a bunch of little things that aren't very photogenic, but make it more like a real car. Things like E-brake, wipers, heater, radio, etc. We have an appointment to get it to the upholsterer right after New Year's.

Got an email from Don today with this picture, captioned "ready for Sid":

So it goes to the upholsterer in the next couple of days, and should be back at Don's by the end of January with the interior and top complete.

Does "end of January" mean you could have it at GNRS? I'd love to see it in person.

Sadly, no. It was our original intent to show it at GNRS, but we're unable to complete it in time. I think we'll have it at Goodguys Del Mar at the end of March, and maybe GNRS 2018.

I am holding my breath until I see this finished (at least in pics) since no GNRS for me in 2017 either. I really believe that this creation will replace the Ralph Jilek Valley Custom build as my favorite '40 (sorry Gary and Rod E). Okay, at least i held my breath until I finished typing that previous sentence.
