I was chuckling to myself while reading your posts...........I love confidence in a young man. Just be careful about racing old men. We're sneaky as hell.

LOL! I can't help myself Allen
Guess I better kinda lay out some minimal ground rules...Looking to race vintage styled door slammers, no turbos, no nitrous, no nitro. I'm naturally aspirated but will race some blown cars. Heads up 1/8 mile. I will race 1/4 mile if told ahead of time and track permits. I am not, nor intend to be NHRA licensed and that's why I run 1/8 mile at Byron. They don't want me running 1/4.

James helping is the best thing that could have happened. We are both having a good time with it.

If you have someone named James helping... It should be good just saying.
And if its going to 1/8 mile racing I better get some gears.

Yes Sir! You'll probably be fine with your gears for now because I highly doubt we'll get it together for this years Meltdown, but ya never know..we might just sneak it in. I really enjoy the competition so I thank you for the inspiration! Makes it fun

Rascal you must have snuck in right when I was responding to Dirty. Glad to see you guys too! I hate it took this long to be able to get back on the car, but it was out of my hands. It's been super tough having to wait, but it's go time now.

May be a week or so before I get any more pics up, but that doesn't mean we ain't making progress. Sometimes you make your most progress just sitting and planning your route of attack. I was just talking to James and it's official, we are running a 55 front end. I was on the fence about it, but all I needed was a little nudge and that's the direction I fell. Some of the stuff we do I don't feel comfortable putting in this thread for the world to see since this is a match race car, but I'll keep you guys that have been around since the start in the know via pm. Just hit me up..I know who my friends are on here.
I know some think I'm full of "beans", but I got that before when we did the T coupe. With James on board this shoe box just became a rocket sled.

sounds like I better step up the game or just build a match race car and hunt you down.

Jackson did you get the 57 you sent pictures of?
The 468 that I said I have... well I don't have it anymore. When I talked to my buddy that borrowed it and ask about it he told me it was stolen along with two of his blowers and some cranks and cylinder heads.
Guessing someone is having some fun at my expense.

Thanks Butch. The rear end is all fabbed up and all that's left is final welding. Next is the front end. We are gonna chop the front off in front of the cowl and start completely fresh.
James wasn't exactly proud of those bungs he made because they were done really quickly. Wives were starting to ask where we were

Glad your build thread is back. I started one on my 50 year project
in my avitar and it was tossed by the super moderator from
MN because I used the phrase "If xxxxx wins, I'll start a build
on my '62 to Southeast Gasser rules". I'm now working on a
LSA (light sport aircraft) instead. No politics, I was told.

Thanks WillyB! Sorry to hear about your thread getting shut down. Normally people get a lot more wiggle room to jaw a bit on their own threads. I used to really push the boundaries with videos and such and likely will again hahaha! Trying to be a good lad at least until this car is complete so I can show you guys what's going on. I almost feel like it needs a new thread because the car has changed so much since the beginning, but don't want to lose anybody that's been following it. I really like all the Southeast Gasser stuff just no longer care to participate. I want to try and revive the "Match Bash" rivalries.

Glad to see you still have the car and are back working on it.
Sorry to hear about your folks though and congrats on the addition to the family.

P.S. I hope James got a new pair of gloves for Christmas

That's actually pretty funny because he threw those gloves in the trash that same day. I guess I could at least buy him a new pair!??

I thought that might be my trigger finger hanging out, but fortunately it is the wrong hand! That pair of gloves might have survived 2 days, LOL!

Check out the southeast gasser facebook page. Your build looks a lot
more 'gasser' than their latest addition, the red A Gas mopar. Apparently,
it also has an 'external oil pump', which will be 'grandfathered' in????
The pro street look is now in, tubbed and all.

Just a thought... when the car is done, very gently try to pick the car up
with some wood blocks, just at the place where the holed plates end and
the unsupported tubes go forward to the ladder bar mount points. This will
simulate what the rear end torque is going to do when a wheelstand
begins. The tubing triangle will have very little deflection, I'm guessing.
I always get the guys at the salvage yard going when I pick up an engine
with my carb plate... with a 1/4" bolt and nut connecting it to the hoist.
Your 3/8" rod bolts are getting 10,000 pounds of yank over 100 times
a second! And don't forget the airplane engine mounts, with a handful
of nuts holding a 3000hp engine and a 12 foot prop on the front....
Stuff is strong if it's used right.

Hmmmmm...I will definitely go check that out first chance I get. i really like watching them, but lost any thoughts about running with them some time ago. When this car is done it will actually be an altered and that's just fine by me. Stick cars ain't the only game in town either so don't get down on yourselves my slush box friends.
