Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by bobg1951chevy, Oct 6, 2016.

  1. I just flipped to 70 last week. I still dont consider myself mature though.
Is that such a bad thing?

Going to be 76 in less than 3 weeks,
but feel 18 whenever I get into an
old hotrod. That is what makes it
    all worth while.

  3. I was in the hospital recovering from a triple bypass when this thread was started. I thought I was in pretty good shape for 61 prior to that. Today almost 11 weeks later I am doing quite well. Driving and working on my Ford again, going back to work in a week.

I'm 25 lbs lighter, my heart is re-plumbed, I eat a lot better and I'll be off to the gym in a bit... none of those sissy pink weights either. I'm doing about 70% of the weights I was doing prior. I have a tattoo appointment for 6 PM. Nice to be doing normal things and I am not aging gracefully.

I have a back injury from 2011, lost my wife in 2014, my dad in 2013 and the recent heart attack. I was going to retire in 4 months at 62... now I need the medical coverage more than ever, so I'll keep on keepin' on for a few more years at work. The pay and bennies can't be beat and I have the gears turning on the next project.

  10. Had 2 doctor appointments yesterday. One was the interview for cardiac rehab and the other was my heart doctor. They are both trying to reel me in, no weights at the gym, only what rehab suggests, no snow shoveling EVER. I have big strong kids and a snow blower, I can supervise them. Also I have to keep my chest warm in cold weather and avoid extreme heat. So I have to go with what they say until I get some mileage on my fixed plumbing and wired up sternum.

Old enough to be your dad ,
Young enough to be your lover ,
And smart enough not to be either!"

  13. My financial advisor mentioned to me that I was eligible to collect my wife's SS security survivor benefit since I am over 60. So I made an appointment and went today, brought my ID, marriage certificate and a check to they have my routing number. I'm seeing dollar signs by then. I get there... I make too much. The earnings cut off is $15,900... I'm a tad past that and they couldn't say that when I had them on the phone.

Like I stated earlier I will be 70 in March so to celebrate I did the first drive in my latest build:
'23 bucket with a 425 Olds 360 HP and 480 lbs ft torque just enough for 1600 lbs; variable pitch TH400 and 8 inch Ford with 3.00 gears. Note: It
    WILL turn the hides over.

I turned 68 this past November I am not on SS still working a full time job. I would like to retire at 70, we shall see what happens

  23. Here's the good thing.
If you like your job and you continue to work, when the time arrives to retire, your monthly S.S. check will be larger.
When I was already retired, I was too young for a S.S. check.
When I turned 62, I began to collect my S.S. checks.
Should have waited until I was 65 (back then, 65 was full retirement), getting that check at 62 cost me 30% of my full S.S.
    Big mistake, on my part.

Bob, the thing with collecting your ss cheque sooner than later is that you'll collect more money and live longer in the long run, than if you'd waited for a larger cheque. The sooner free money comes in the mail slot, the better.
I retired at 55, filed for Canada pension at 60, rather than waiting till 65, I'll collect $30,000 over the next five years that I'd have never seen by waiting for a larger cheque. Hear that George?

Turn 70 this year. Got my first ticket by a constable at 14 for driving without a license. Do any states still have constables? Gone around here for a long time.

79 in a couple of months and in good heath, but my golf game has gone to hell. I'm replacing my steering column this next week and then only have to get the right speedo gear in so I'm not going 22 percent faster than it says.
