  2. Oh, ok. I've never heard them called "jeffery allen's before. Was he the guy that designed them or something? Just curious how they got the name. E

  3. That I don't know. I would assume he designed them.

I dig the placement of the Chrysler grill bars on this Merc with some neat peaked/frenched headlights ... Back to the 50's MN 12222016_0007.jpg

Don't be fooled, Looks like a 51 Merc with a combination Cadillac/Cal Custom grill treatment, but its a basically stock 51 Meteor (Canadian). Just lowered with lakers and 4-bars, spots and a visor ... BTTF's

EDIT (see post #4286 below for a correction, Thanks MR57) 12222016_0014.jpg

When done right, I prefer the 51 back glass to the 49-50 and this one is done right. Perfect proportions and flow to this chop ... BTTF's 12222016_0015.jpg

Color matched wheels and scallops on the Fleetline at BTTF's If I recall, the letters on the Oldsmobile grill bar now read "O L D S L E D" 12222016_0016.jpg

Can a hot rod be a kustom? The drawer-pull grill trips my trigger. Car from Dubuque IA? shot at BTTF's 12222016_0017.jpg

A phantom 2 dr tin woody with some otherwise mild kustom mods. I noticed the builder had to custom make the rear side spear, either by extending the front edge of a stock 210 molding or possible mating a 4 dr door and rear spear together. 12222016_0018.jpg

    Mild, but great looking 57 Ranchero ... BTTF's 12222016_0020.jpg

Everybody puts 55 Pontiac trim on their kustom. Actually looks good on a 55 Pontiac too. The neat thing I liked about this car, and maybe some one can post a pic, the stock flat ribbed trim that tops the tailfin is gone, now nice and rounded and pleasing to the eye. .... Its almost a shame not to two-tone these mid 50's Old. Tasty mild kustom mods, nonetheless. BTTF's 12222016_0023.jpg

  15. That reminded me of Carson McKeen's phantom 2 door tin woody.

  16. Really like the front end on this Olds. The upper grill surround not being chrome sure gives a whole different look!

Other than the side mirrors I drooled over this 51 Merc at BTTF's. Full width 54 DeSoto grill, beautiful profile and stance. The chrome steel wheels and spider caps look good (and that says something, coming from a wheelcover nut). I think the taillights are 58 Chevy stood on end. The color is a favorite of mine, some form of deep dark green. 12222016_0024.jpg

The dark green Merc is really pretty. How did those elephant ear mirrors ever get so popular, even on otherwise period-perfect builds from the 80's and 90's?

I love the '49 jailbar style rear window and '51 quarters.

In the 80s, "period-perfect" wasn't a big thing yet. Pre-Internet days meant we used what we could still find in the junkyards. And there was still an "update-it" ethos that all but disappeared when everyone decided on period-only stuff.
