Yup it was. There was a bit of a feature on it in the Bo Bertilsson Book Rods and Customs.

It appeared in Classics and Customs (wearing a double scooped hood) searching for its history.
The rear window is three piece Olds/Buick, as was the '56 Chevy. Any further info?

Best custom pic I've seen posted in a long time! Never saw this before, the car looks familiar but I can't place it. Any info? Do we know who the girls are?

 

It's the Ralph Testa Merc.

 

As Ian mentioned. This is the Barris Kustoms Restyled Ralph Testa Mercury. HERE is an full article on this car... and the best thing is that is survived, was fully restored and shown on a regular base. As for the girls. Jim Foran was the owner of the car when that photo was taken in 1953. And most likely one of the girls was his girlfriend.

 

A small dose of medicine for your Kustom Blues ailment. Probably 1994 Merc/Deuce in Holland MI. Full width 54 DeSoto grill which is less common than a shortened one. Looks to have a "coronado wheel" on the deck lid?? And tough to see in pic, but there is an area of the door, at side-trim level, that appears to be recessed. Just noticed the door hump has been moved closer to the rear edge of the door.

 

Very Mild Ford, removed front guards, slight lowering and ubiquitous 57 Caddy caps with bullets

 

50 Buick portholes, molded frenched headlights and those same 57 Caddy caps ... Back to the 50's MN

 

A de-chromed 53-54 Pontiac 'vert running 57 Caddy caps ... Back to the 50's MN

 

Pretty mild 55, nosed, shaved, lowered with spots ... AND 57 Caddy caps with bullets. Maybe its a Minnesota thing. They do look good, and are WAY better than Chevy S-10 wheels, which I saw A LOT of them on GM cars at Back to the 50's. I know better than to post them here.

Unique and cool way to get the Packard lens to fit the round Ford pod.

Mild 53 Buick Super, Lowered, lakers, nosed, decked, shaved handles and added some bumper bullets... BTTF's

 

Cool 50 Coupe with frenched in "jeffery allen's" I think the grille incorporates Imperial pieces??? BTTF's

That's a great shoebox, 54delray. I remember the days not too long ago when a guy could find and buy a car like this for a great price and be on the road cruisin' around and having fun in no time. Sure miss those days!

Monarch taillights??

 

Ed, they are the hooded-style headlight "visors". The kind that "clamp on" around the outside of the bezel.
