Yes thanks Zoran, that is it, I'd wondered if it might be a Charron but had not looked them up as yet. The question was posted on another forum, I'll let them know.

That car was registered in the Arras region, north of France, in about 1923, the sidecar is from the Pas de Calais region, north /west of France and registered in june 1920. This was a used car of about 10 years when registered.

I do not know much about the Panhard. A friend of mine bought the car in pieces, the disassembled car had been in a fire. He bought it and found the supercharger in the parts that came with the car. The engine had a intake manifold with a two throat carb on it, the supercharger uses a single throat carb. The car is now almost completely assembles except for interior and folding top. I will post more pictures soon.

I think this will be on topic so here goes.
The 3 wheeler you see here has a MotoGuzzi 1000cc engine with Dellorto PHF-30 carbs. I have a pressure regulator set at about 3#.
When hard cornering the outside carb seems to run dry and the outside cylinder quits. Coming out of the turn it stumble back to life. So, this would also happen to cyclecars with bike engines and bike carbs.

My assumption is that fuel sloshes up the side of the carb starving the main jet and possibly forcing the float up closing the needle valve. Fuel comes out of the vent tube also. Body roll would also add to the mix since the carb will be tilted. It looks like it happens more with left turns which is odd since the right carb vent is on the left side of that carb.

Have any of you with cyclecars or 3 wheelers had this happen? Any suggestions to cure it?

    Hello Fred,
Maybe to replace motorcycle type carburators with a pair of some old but good auto carburators for small European or Asian cars? They should be resistant to side-forces (centrufugal) during cornering?

I thought about SU carbs but someone said that they had the same problem with racing Minis.

... maybe some sport-type from small FIAT if could be found in USA? We had so-called National-Class racing for Zastava 750 (later Zastava 850), that were slightly modified FIAT 600d, giving up to 35 HP for smaller engines and up to 40-45 for bigger! As I remeber, allowed was use of Weber carburators, Solex or Zenith, with restriction of size... Double-barell Abarth carburtaors (single or a pair) were allowed for "open class" of 850 cc.
I had two SU carburators on my Triumph Dolomite, driving it without problems, but more in family style than any sport way.

    Z.
P.S. (added): that is my experience old 4 decades! Probably nothing of that could be now found in USA! Maybe, still in Europe...

A test drive showed it happening on right and left turns. Only happens on a tight hairpin corner at 30 MPH in 2nd gear. Larger sweeping curves at the limit of adhesion seems to be OK. Not something I have to do in normal street driving so I'll have to live with it.

You might find that SUs will have a slightly larger float bowl and cause less of a problem. Just a random thought from my random brain.

While I'm here, Merry Christmas and the best in 2017 to all the crazies that hang out here.

Have you dropped a bowl and looked to see if you can verify your theory by looking at the wet level mark left by the fuel? I imagine you've already verified the float levels are set correctly?
What intake setup are you running? Are you running a stock elbow setup, velocity stacks, straight? The carbs angles are important and sometimes they need to be twisted to compensate for hard riding/leaning on airheads. You'll notice on performance Guzzi bikes the intakes allow for the carbs to be tilted in and up so that as the bike is put in a hard lean the float bowl stays perpendicular to the ground and fuel can flow down into the head. Depending on your intake setup you might be able to twist the carbs a bit to achieve this affect. Also don't know the specifics of your motor, but PHF-30's seem on the small side for a 1000cc Guzzi in a vehicle as heavy as a Cyclecar. How do they perform otherwise?
