I dig this, as found on the HAMB. Reminds me of the tri-fives I saw growing up as a kid in the sixties...

This was at a local car show about ten years ago, same kind of deal.

One of the first threads I responded to when I joined the HAMB was "pick your top five customs" or something like that. The Astorian was one of my picks, the rest I recall were the Jade Idol, Ray Goularts Olds, and Richard Zocchis Pontiac.Cant recall what the fitth one was. I always liked The Alexander Bros cars.

  14. ...for a low-buck kid in the 60's, these homemade reversed rims were a step up from stock steelies...

It's Cragar S/S for me...I really don't like them on pretty much any other car though.

    Old thread, for sure.
When I was a kid I thought Crager SS was factory equipment on 2 door tri fives, seems like all of them around here had them!
Last year I had a 56 Bel Air HT in the shop for upgrades. Came in with wide whites with stock caps. I put on a set of American Racing Torque Thrush with the grey centers. 15x6 in the front, 16 x8 in the rear. Completely changed the personalty of the car. DSC_0247.JPG

Vintage wheels like old Americans or Halibrands are cooler, but when you consider the cost and the unobtainium factor, Torque Thrust II Americans fill the bill

I am with some earlier posts. Halibrands, ETIII`s, TT`s, Aluminum slots and Cragar SS. But my favorite on the Tri Fives has always been Cragar SS.

Made me laugh, Fred. I like em, but they always peeled. So I went with Americans.

I'm a mag wheel kind of guy, but if I get a second vote, I'll pick this again, perfection.
