Man that's cool...........pun intended. My Dad built us a "Jeep" in the hobby shop at LACKLAND AFB @1963. It also was powered by a small clinton engine. Maybe I will be able to find the pics of it.
very cool! that corvette looks like the ones the dealer gave away as promo's and a buddy of mine has one of those.
Finally found some more pictures. Note smaller front tires in last pic with our dog "driving". He was always complaining of understeer.
He's 84 now and still plays golf. His builds aren't quite the same since he discovered aluminum, plexiglass and pop rivets in the 70's.
Dr Hemi. Around the same time Dad was working on mine also never got fully finished. Maytag twin powered here's a photo 1956 or so. You had a great ride
First time I got in trouble with the police. The lady down the street called on my sidewalk hot rod!!!
I had one of those Corvette's. My grandfather won it in a raffle at a local Chevy dealer. Charlie Irish Chevrolet I think. I have a picture of me in it somewhere. Forgot about it until now. Will try to find it.
That lil' car is just too cool....man, I would habe been crazy with excitement if I had something like that growing up....I think it would have kept me from leaping off tall sheds with a patio umbrella (my own amateur astronaut program I devised)...I didn't discover cars till my mid teens, but I think it would have been so much fun to toot around in one of them little 'runabouts'.....awesome pics!!!
My Grandfather won that one! Some guy he worked with wanted it for his kids and we had the gas powered "real deal" so he sold it to him. That photo session was the only time I ever saw the Corvette.
If anybody really wants a Corvette body like that, Get a hold of Karl, at Wescotts, in Damascus, Oregon. There was several in the back yard, Dee used make them. Cute as heck..
I found this picture in that same last batch. My Dad was a Parts Manager at a John Deere dealership back in the 50's and he built this electric powered JD 60 pedal tractor. There was an automotive starter motor under the seat and a couple of 6 volt car batteries in that little trailer. An old style floor mounted starter switch was the on and off foot control. My dad actually built this for another guy for his kids. I was the "test pilot" and got to ride it a couple of times. I wonder what ever happened to it? My Dad is driving here and my Uncle Dave is on the back. one thing about that deal is that you could ride it inside as here in the basement although I wheeled it in the driveway.
jumped in my deloreon reworked it to go back in time found where you parked it.wouldn't you know could not fit it in godam inside electronics took up all the room and no bloody trunk.had to get back. reworked electronics I did not want to miss more pics
I don't know if/when it will get rebuilt as I'm not much for hand hammering tin bodywork. In the meantime I recently purchased Butch Leal's California Flash 1975 B/MP Hemi Duster and am doing a ground-up restoration back to it's original as-raced configuration.
