Christmas Jeers a POEM, by Bob

I brought my wife to the promised land,

Warm winters, blue skies, everyone PROMISED it would be grand,

We picked a great place to build our life, what'a great plot!

But then summer came, and MAN, WAS IT HOT!!

We stayed every month, (figured we could take,)

But we'd kept our other house, So what the heck, why fake it?

We picked the hottest 4 months, and we headed North

There were kids, grandkids, and friends galore!

"Why this is a good idea, let's do it some more"!!!!

THEN we made one big error, we went there for Christmas without a care,

It was the worst winter in 40 years, we were there 3 weeks, buried in snow,

The natives loved it, but me and the wife, boy! were we cold,

We had flown in and rented a car, wrecked the darn thing, (being too bold!)

WE'VE GOT THIN ARIZONA BLOOD, THERE IS NO DOUBT,

Now, if I EVER get these insurance papers filled out,

Well, we're back home where we belong....

NOW I'LL BE SINGIN' A FAVORITE SONG; "I LOVE YOU ARIZONA"

All I have for this week. Just an attempt at a drawing of Elvis. Sorry it's not more car related.
I'll remove it if it is too far out of theme. BR

Bob, you really worked some magic on this image. Sorry to hear about your friend. It was 5 years on Dec 7th I lost my Mom to ocular melanoma. Her birthday is Christmas Eve, putting a double damper into the Holliday Seasons..

PS: Loved your interview by TopazLabs, it was well deserved...

Photoshop may not be considered art to some people, but once in a while it can have an artistic slant. HAMB'r @Stogy took one of my photos and got "artsy" with it. I love it!
He added the Firestone signs because he read on here that I covet one, he replaced the
"got dirt" plate with a genuine 32 Oregon plate, which I also would like and he also gave it the greyscale look. Some have said they can't define art but they know it when they see it, and I agree.

After, what do you guys think?

Work in progress palette knife painting. Not Christmasy but at least it's red.

Wow everyone is posting some great stuff. Been sitting back for a while after struggling to get pics to post a while back. Hope you all enjoy my modern twist on traditional leather tooling. Here's a few pieces made in 2016. I've been fortunate enough to get to do some work with some awesome guys & have some crazy inspiration from the awesome cars we've been doing. I've got several more cars & hot rod inspired pieces we've done but I'll save those for another day. We do a lot more than wallets but the tend to be the most fun. If there's one thing I can guarantee you it's that these wallets will last a lifetime... obviously we do a lot more than hot rod related pieces but you can tell where my passion is. There's lots more to come in 2017! If you do the social media check us out on instagram @n847

I'm sure some of you guys recognize Ryan Pope's 56 gasser "Big Iron"

This roadster wallet was the first piece I ever made for myself. I decided to do a little something for myself before the surgery. The car and my name were taken from my original Nates Custom Leather t-shirt art work by Chad Bowling.
    20160825_211129.jpg
This was a framed piece I fully tooled out for a fundraiser panel auction at a local car show. The if this looks familiar the original art work for this piece was by Eric Black.
    20160814_174056.jpg
This was a wallet I did for my buddy Joe who won a fund raiser raffle we did last year to help out another buddy and his family.

I'm sure a few of you guys recognize this car & it's art work by Josh Shaw. We did this one before Detroit Auto Rama last year where we set up to sell some goods.

20160728_213159.jpg This one was a little more simple design for a big Caddy fan.
We've done some chopper pieces along the way too!

    Thanks for letting me play!

I think I made the same comment last year but this really needs to be illustrated by HAMBers and sold as a book. The story is great and my little guy likes to hear it. Thanks for posting again so I didn't have to dig for it.

  23. I found these old prints stashed in the "toy" room in my basement. Don't know anything of their origin but they are pretty cool. Any demand for these? Tim 005.jpg 006.jpg

I use water based dyes from Tandy for some but most of the bright stuff is actually just regular old Acrylics like you can get from hobby lobby. I get most mine from Angelus but I use plenty from hobby lobby & it holds up perfectly. It's all under a sealer too but it doesn't crack out or wear worse than anything else at all. I was amazed.

Those appear to have been done by Indianapolis artist Ron Burton. He does a lot of Indy 500 themed work.

The paint and lettering on the red car in my avatar was done by his brother Dale.

The Mustang made me think of John Glenn's Mustang while he was a pilot in WW2.His passing yesterday had me all nostalgic for America in the 60s and 70s.

I bought this Album today in a charity 2nd hand shop opened by Sela Ward. I liked the drawings, has never heard of the singer/songwriter. Wound up he wrote the song Take It Easy made famous by the Eagles The car art on his wall was appealing, as was the fact Bob Wray, Jackson Browne and others sang or played on this album from 1978. The 65 Impala with it's trunk open is blurry, sorry. 70's country rock. ebay, doll beds 001.JPG
