Been told the best location for the center of the water pump pulley and fan in relation to the radiator is toward the center or bottom of the radiator for the best cooling. The engine sits low in the frame in my Model A .Now the center of the rigid fan is no where near the best location. Without changing the motor mounts and engines location what are my best options. Hook it all up and try it ,go with a electric fan with shroud or what - any suggestions ? Gene

Try it as is, and if it over heats make a shroud for it.

  3. Do you have a shroud now?

  4. Cooling works best at the top I thought. Maybe try the Zip water pump relocation. Raises the pump 5 are so inches higher. Works great on my 32.

  6. Gene, pictures would help, but past that, run it and if it cools, great. If it doesn't, put on a shroud or go electric..

    That's what I thought

  9. Regardless of whether you use a mechanical or electric fan the ideal location is to center fan in the middle of the radiator.

If you want to use a mechanical fan Zips riser will get you where you need to be if using a sbc...if your using a sbf ,snow white offers a riser also.

Want a electric fan there are a lot of them to choose from. HRP

The hot water go's in the top of your radiator.
Mount the fan high in the middle of your radiator.
I like the cooling concepts fan / shroud combo.
A sbc needs to run 200 degrees for complete emission burn.
If the radiator doesn't puke water run it.
The only thing that will hurt your engine is dry spots in the water jacket.
