Projects The bucket of ugly! A de-uglifying thread...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by need louvers ?, Aug 14, 2013.

  1. I was like you with those arms but I put some miles on the T with them and im happy, there is always something better to use but good enough is OK and besides these little Hot Rods are very light and don't apply a lot of force to steering gear. JW

  3. And they , the manufacturer , wouldn't be making and selling a truck load of them if they had one or three failures with them as don't you guys have a system where you can sue the shit of somebodies bed blanket if they sell you a faulting thing that doesn't do what they say it should do ? My T Roadster has the same set up and I have never even thought of going and trying to see if the bolts are still tight as I'm sure one would feel the play in the steering well before a nasty happened.
    Just my opinion though.

  4. Hope the Hoffman Group doesn't try making them. Because of the deep drop you will feel it if they came slightly loose and they can only come loose if the are not torqued and locked. JW

  10. Of course they have, selling on eBay; Closeout Auto Parts, Unbeatable Auto Parts, Johnny Law Motors, and probably under some other Hoffman aliases as well; hundreds of pairs sold too.

Parts arrived Monday. A tear down, massaging and paint will take place before paint and pics.

Yes it was a 427 side oiler that came out of a Tbolt. I drag raced that motor in a A/C roadster. Fuel injected. Please go find some other car to pick apart.

Sorry I did not think the HAMB site was a hate site, now I know, my bad. I will no longer post any pictures in the future, unless I want to have them picked apart. Thanks for the heads up guys.

This is supposed to be a no-drama site (as best we can). I think it's just that this particular thread is about styling - what's ugly and what's not - and people will have (sometimes strong) opinions about that.

So other folks are right, don't get upset, take it as constructive criticism and always consider the source. If someone you respect, with known good taste says your shirt is ugly, it's probably ugly. Some random guy, eh, maybe not.

  17. Man if think that was hate you must be one of them thar snoflakes we hear about these days! Neat bucket, comments were made on what guys would change on it. Nothing more, nothing less. In fact several got off on the side oiler. So relax Francis, that discussion happened a couple years back. It has been said that this is like a benchracing session in a guys garage. We are all sitting around with a drink in hand talking cars. Would I bust Freds balls for the brush paint in person? Yes, I would also be the first to step up and offer to spray it for him if we were not several hundred miles apart. That old picture makes you T look TITTY PINK, a color it seemed all candy tangerine actually faded to eventually anyway ;)

  22. Well, thanks, but I don't get any of the credit for it. This cars been together since before I got my license (1981)! It's a Total Performance car, and I'm pretty sure that is their standard front end set up (although I do believe my buddy built the tie rod, it's stainless and the rest of the front end is chrome). I'll have to ask him about it next time I see him.

Thanks A Boner, so how did you edit that? I was thinking maybe I would have to be on my home computer to do it?

Save it to your computer where ever you keep your photos. Then if you open it with the program that comes with windows, photo viewer, which is the normal way of looking at them. When the photo is open look at the bottom line which has all the buttons. On the right side, right next to the RED X you will see two curved arrows like in the photo bellow. Click one or the other until it's right side up. Then close the viewer and it will automatically be saved the way you turned it to.

  25. Thanks, Loudbang. I figures that was how it was done. With work and school, I'm almost never home so I'm usually posting from my phone or my kindle. It seems to be harder to post pics from them. Still can't get either of the videos I took to post. I got one sent from my phone to my kindle, but the other won't even do that. I wanted to send it to Photo bucket or something and edit it, but it won't even come off the phone. Oh well.....

  28. Anyway, back to the major point, that is congratulations on raising so much money to help those who look out for the children who need an extra hand at this time of year. It is sad when too many families who struggle all through the year to feed and cloth their kids hurt when they can't give there little ones a Christmas to remember so, sir, I admire you and all the other people you worked with to help those in need.

Well, it's been a while since I posted, so here's what's up. About 2 weeks ago, I was helping a friend do an engine swap. Hoist slipped, I tried my best Superman attempt and failed. Results, I threw my back out and got home from a 10 day lay up in the hospital, Monday afternoon. Gonna be doing rehab for a few weeks.

Needless to say, my spirits were down. While I wanted to wait until after the new year to get back on the project, this drug we call, "Hot Rodding" came a calling. So, tonight, I broke down the front brake assembly and drilled out the steering arms to take Grade 8, 5/8" bolts. Put everything back together to check for fit. Looks good. Broke it down again and tomorrow, I'll prep and paint. Pics are forth coming.

26 T Ford RPU, tonight's music was the sound track from "Bullitt". Yea, there's a soundtrack. Ain't Steve the "King of Cool"? A little late 60's jazz/swing action. If you can find it... get it. It's worth it.

By the way, when I was stationed in San Francisco, I stood at that intersection. Seriously.
