Back in the sixties that was cool.
Still has a unique appeal with craftsmanship that must be appreciated.
Wonder who built it and the history?
Truly a ton of work expended.

it's still around. originally max kings. has been owned by mark con forth of new jersey for the last 30 years. the paint that is on it in these pictures was painted in 1959 when the car was done over for the second time.

UGLIEST 41 Merc I've seen. Hurts my eyes.

  6. Whoever built it did not do it any favors. Poor thing.

Definitely a radical custom! Stock 41 mercs weren't that pretty anyways. In its own right it is both cool and interesting. A dark color paint job might have made it better. Is there more info and pics?

39 or 40 Merc built on the east coast in 1959.....actually pretty cool for the time and place when you look at a lot of the other east coast stuff being built then!
I'm glad it still survives, and wouldn't change a thing!

  9. It's another case of the owner/builders feeling they needed to change things to garner attention, but not necessarily for the better.
