Joey, once again you struck paydirt for me (and my memories). The roadster was one of the feature cars in my first hot rod mag given to me by my Uncle Bud. It just so happens that the fellow waving looks a whole lot my uncle. Many yrs. later, I gave this issue back to his youngest son, pay it forward. Thanks, Carp
I screwed up last night when I tried to make a contribution about the '36 conv shown in the start of the topic, in the following I'll try to correct my mistake. In 1952 I bought a very nice low mileage '36 Deluxe 5 window coupe. Reading through the many custom etc. mag's of the day I found that I liked the "N-Cal" look with the Pachard/LaSalle grilles, Chevy truck headlights. Sitting in a drive-inn one evening I laid out my plans for the '36 to a bunch of my friends. I started gathering parts for the car and slowly went to work. I got the Chevy headlights installed, opting to scribe fit the pods to the fenders, attaching them with 1/4-20 carriage bolts in lieu of welding and leading them onto the fenders. Next came solid hood panels and '37 Desoto bumpers. Before I could secure a Packard or LaSalle grille a buddy of mine put one in his '36, so I decided to keep the stock grille. In 1962 I decided to return the '36 to a more stock look. I removed the Desoto bumpers and solid hood panels in favor of stock, I had the car repaint to it's original black with an apple green pin strip. Reviewing the attached pix you will note that in '62 the Ford still had the Chevy headlights, they have since been changed back to stock with sealed beams.
