T5 swap for 1950 Chevy with 235 and 56 belair rearend

Kinda curious does anyone know or has anyone measured to see if the stock s10 drive shaft will work as a direct swap ?

If not is there a stock drive shaft that is a direct swap ?

The t5 I'm going to grab this weekend is in a running driving s10 so I can grab the drive shaft at the same time it would be great.

I also have the drive shaft from the 56 belair .

The swap isn't started yet so I can't measure just yet.

    Oooor

does anyone have the drive shaft length they used for their swap?

Sorry for long and scattered posting . Been at work for 6 hours already today and have until 7 tonight . I have drank A LOT for coffee today .

You most likely will need to drive shaft yoke, so I would grab it

As brokenspoke said grab the driveshaft for the yoke only. When I did my Poncho the blazer driveshaft I had was too short. When I went to get a new one made the first thing they asked was if I had the yokes.

I bought a shaft from Southwest Speed:

My other plan was to grab an aluminum shaft from a newer S10 and have it shortened to length. If the shaft you have is too long and the trans yoke fits (27 Spline), then maybe get that one shortened.

If your wheelbase is as long or shorter than the S10 you're grabbing the T-5 from you might as well grab the shaft. The 56 rear end likely has 1310 U-joints and the S10 a GM 3R, a conversion joint will fix that though, Neapco 3-3130 or Napa 372.

  6. Depends on the length as stated. But agree get the driveshaft anyway so you have the driveshaft yokes and the matching output trans yoke. If lucky the S-10 driveshaft can be shortened for low-budget. If too short it is just a few more bucks to put in new tube.

Just get a driveshaft that is to long, they are easy to shorten.
