1961 Mercury Monterey the rich cousin of the Ford Galaxie. A galaxie platform with a higher end trim package.This is a beautiful cruiser. I bought it with every intention of replacing one of my other cars but when it came time to sell I realized I didn't want to get rid of it. I don't want both so this one goes. Clear MD title in my name. Backstory from the guy I bought it from. Colorado car that was parked years ago with 50K-ish miles on it. Brought to PA and garaged for a number of years. I DROVE it 90 miles home to Baltimore a month ago. Since I've had it I had the radiator fixed, replaced the upper/lower hose, tstat, valve cover gaskets, degreased the engine, and cleaned up the engine bay a bit. Body: This is a 2 door hardtop coupe, lowered 2 inches and rides very smooth (not boucey). Body appears to be original paint, some dings/chips, dent in the trunk lid, a small amount of rust around usual spots but great for a '61. No door sag, good gaps. If it was any better it would be a lot more expensive. Factory AC (doesn't work). This is fully loaded. New bias ply wide whites. Rides nice but like bias ply not radials. larger wagon wheels with new caps. Needs an alignment. Interior- very nice. seat belts added to the front seat. bench seats in great condition. Suspension: Front Suspension: new front shocks, new work by previous owner when he lowered it. Needs- weather stripping replaced around the doors. heater core checked (bypassed) and maybe replaced. Not sure. Dash pad is cracked. Am radio stopped working. turn signal switch(a new one comes with the sale) Very nice rare hardtop cruiser. This car is awesome and not out of reach for everyday enthusiast.
