Tin hunting Tasmania "Andy Morris auction"

I never knew Andy Morris of burnie Tasmania but I had heard his name mentioned more than a hundred times.
I heard friends saying that the highlight of their hotrodding career was driving one of his cars and how well it was engineered.
He was know as the wheel expert who cast and modified wheels for hotrodding

I went to an auction at his place of business Friday just gone
It was nice to see so many faces from
The hotrodding fraternity of our small island state

He was a very handy guy, if he wanted it he made it, did things his way. He even cast and made his own wheels..........I remember his model A from the 70's it was a pretty wild car that he drove everywhere.

I saw this advertised on Facebook, would have been nice to go. What sort of shape was the stuff outside, I imagine things would rust fairly quickly down there, god knows it does here.

Yeah a couple of nine inch
Housings which include a big set of Galaxy rear finned drums for the frysler project some 31 spline axles and a 55 cusso hood for $30 which I thought was a ripper score
And stu and I met your mate Ashley after he won the bid on all the A model stuff because were forever chasing that elusive left hand 30 roadster door

Andy died early this year and was a legend in the Australian hot rodding world. His model A tourer was a love it or hate it kind of car but you had to admire the workmanship. Apparently he made every nut and bolt,wheels, suspension on the car. He went to very Australian Hot Rod Nationals in the same car since 1973.

My old man lived up that way for quite a few years
And would often call in on him.he said Andy hardly knew him but would let him wander around touching all sorts of things that he probably shouldn't have and that he was a very trusting soul
