If we're on this forum, we obviously have spare time, money, and perhaps talent...all things to be Thankful for! AND the friendship and good advice (sometimes!) of our fellow HAMBers!
Hello, Some of the most memorable Thanksgiving vacations from 61-64 were the dinners with our family. But, once our dinner was over and we were getting ready for our “real” Thanksgiving Vacation from school, did it hit us that this was going to be epic. While we were gathering all of our surf stuff for our 4 day vacation in Baja, Mexico, our cool mom was de-nuding the turkey for us to take for our meals. We would be celebrating Thanksgiving for the next 4 days in relaxing Baja secret spots and waves with our turkey day leftovers. Cranberries, mashed potatoes, gravy and pumpkin pie while sitting on a cliff overlooking a nice sunset and tremendous waves at our favorite secret spot...what a vacation celebration... We were ready and took off with a couple of other cars/vans owned by friends late in the evening. The near 200 mile drive was going to be in the dark as the traffic was nil at that time. But, once in Mexico, we had to be extra cautious during those 2 a.m. drives to our camp spots. Obviously, no one was on those moonlit night drives except for the occasional flatbed delivery truck. When we arrived, we timed it perfectly for the quick snooze and the 6 a.m. pristine first waves. This went on for a couple of years until more cars and vans started making the trip. Word got out that it was always “firing” great waves during this November weekend. Then the Thanksgiving dinners at home turned into those massive “20 people around the table gab fests” with various topics at each end of the table. Of course our end was hot rods and surfing…what else? Jnaki
Hello, Many years later, going down to Baja for a Mexico (get away from the daily grind) vacation we visited that pristine surf spot that gave us so many wonderful times and waves during Thanksgiving vacations. Now, it is so polluted that access is only by boat and besides, who would want to surf there…can you say Hepatitis A,B,C? That is unfortunate, but it is the sign of the times. Manufacturing company’s processing plants spew out tons of stuff because of the empty lands and no one except for us explorers that used the beach. Open lands turned into chain linked places with armed guards. Not too inviting anymore. Now,it is fly in and out to the resorts on mainland Mexico and spending the time for rest and relaxation. One time, it was 8 people on a jet back to LAX late Thanksgiving night with sandwiches for our evening meal. Maybe, the huge family table, extravaganza, “gab fests,” events don’t look so bad after all. Jnaki

I think I'd stick with the breast. The legs and thighs look a little overdone and leathery. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
