Projects 1962-63 Galaxie rear seat dimensions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Nov 21, 2016.

  1. Little bit of a background behind my question: I've got 1963 Galaxie 500XL front buckets in my 1947 Ford Coupe. It also has a stock '47 rear seat. I want to get the dimensions on the 1963 rear seats for the fastback/hardtop and the convertible. I need to know the width, height and depth. Trying to figure out if I can make a stock 63 rear seat cover fit on a 47 seat frame with the foam custom cut so front and rear seats match. Seat width I'd think is the most crucial. I assume the '47 is narrower than the '63 but how much narrower or how about when compared to the the width of a '63 convertible.

Guess someone with a little time, a tape measure and access to a 62-63 Galaxie could help out a lot. Thanks.

  4. Thanks. I like the stock 500XL interior so trying to incorporate the Chestnut Brown version into the coupe.

  5. Just a quick bump to the top. Going to try to order the covers this weekend.

Finally remembered to measure the seat-too much going on the past couple of days.
Bottom of seat 61 1/2 inches wide, 20 inches deep, but after top cushion is in it has 14 inches of sitting area, appears to be 7 inches thick in the front-but tapers down at the rear.
Top cushion is 61 1/2 inches wide, 24 inches tall and 6 inches thick. Hope this helps. alex
