Well I will tell you one thing that is a positive...you are not working with old rusty parts that you need to soak forever or apply heat to to get even moving in the right direction.
You are correct, At least I am past that point ... concerned it could be a warped housing from when I welded the brackets on the rearend ...not sure how I check for that>>>
I just read through your whole thread. Congratulations on saving a Deuce 5 window couple. You are indeed a very talented individual and should be very proud of yourself. I saw the pics of your 3 Window, damn, you don't make it easy on yourself do you? I hope you post a build thread on that one too.
Most modern alignment equipment can measure if a rearend is bent. Also most large tire shops will check the alignment for free. Looking for a noise under load I would be suspecting an issue either the ring and pinion setup, or an issue with the gear contact surface.
Well everything is back together again. Really did not find anything in the brakes although I changed shoes hardware and drums . Not driving the car as it's too icy outside I also pulled the right axle shaft , found 2 of these metal shavings on the end of the shaft.
You bet!! Sucks that I will have to do this all again after sending the center section Back to get repaired
Glad you found it. After all you have done on this car I bet you are relieved. I know I would be. Tom
Honestly don't know Can't see anything obvious Lots of brass in the rear end grease way too much to be normal Also the pinion had started leaking , only been driven 5-6 miles tops
The "brass", could it be the crush sleeve was crumpled too much? Maybe the pinion is rubbing on the pinion seal, creating the leak also
Hi I have just re-read the thread ,I am using a sedan roof also in my 32 coupe build .Could please explain what you meant by a slow curve in the sedan roof compared to the coupe roof and how you fix the difference ,thanks. the whole thread has been a great help and to myself and another friend doing similar really appreciate your efforts to explain and take pictures along the way , it has already saved us many hours of headaches and making mistakes. gary
Thanks Gary, glad to hear this old thread is helping you and your friends I learned a lot and made many friends doing this project ! As for the roof Let me see if I can find a picture that shows you what I mean But to verbalize : Sedan roofs can be used on a coupe but you will need to remove some of the area behind the side windows as well as the reveal. It's Fat so to speak when you look at them from the side On the top behind the rear roof opening it's a little long as well, this is easy to deal with Mike
thanks Mike for your reply .If you are able to post the picture showing what you have described that would fantastic, gary
Gary Here are a few shots of a coupe roof and a sedan roof . This will give you a perspective on the differnce. The last image shows the are that will need to be removed (parden my wiggly fingers). It's not exact but it give you the idea. I will look for the actual images i have for this operation tomorrow evening. Thanks Mike
Here is the key cut line shown on a coupe. I have also shown the key measurement you need off a coupe (arrow to arrow ). For what it's worth , in my opinion it would be easier to cut a fordor than a tudor sedan.
