Yes, it's a 14 × 54. I bought from our transportation repair shop where I work about 15 years ago, it had "low mileage " and came with a stack of various chucks. Awesome machine!

  6. The amount of stuff a person owns will expand to fit the space available. Your results will vary. This is dad's 2 car shop.It was a pony barn previously. We went from working outside to a roof and walls in 1984. Thought we were shittin' in tall cotton! Did the frame off on my '57 in this building, welded all the body panels on in here, too. On a wooden floor, no less. Now the T languishes in here and dad comes to my shop to use the lift. IMG_20160630_105110764_HDR.jpg

Here is my "HUGE" Baltimore garage. Garage stalls (multiple cars in one big garage that has individual garage doors) typically lease for ~125/mo. This garage and the church it attaches to are pre-1900. Electricity was an addition to the buildings and they really show their age.

Just to follow up on my own post, I've been thinking of converting the giant iron beam over the threshold of the garage into a engine hoist...

You guys are right on, I ran one for years and really hated the newer lathe they replaced it with. Just seemed like an extension of your hands due to the layout of the controls, I especially liked the clutch, and yes, very well built.

    So prestigious.

Does anyone ever cruise around looking for old junk in garages? I feel lucky living in Baltimore. Lots and lots of old old sheds, barns, and lots to explore. I've found all sorts of stuff tucked away, early mustangs, horse and buggies, even a 2nd owner unrestored '29 Stude tucked away.

  21. My project, tools, welder, and engine hoist share a 2-car garage with Wifey's minivan, lawn mower, gardening tools, four bicycles, camping gear, Christmas decorations, yada, yada, yada...

If you want to build a hot rod, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.

  27. P1020509.JPG I wish I was showing a pic of a really nicely set up garage, but this has to do. 24'x24'.
a winter resting place for the toys & the little lady can park her car in there too, so she doesn't have to scrape windows.
A little too tight to do any real work. Really cold in the middle of winter!
    I park outside.
