Hot Rods 58 fords extinct ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fullhouse296, Nov 3, 2016.

  1. This may explain why I prefer the '57, '59 and '61 Fords. The '60 was another rust boat for some reason. I like the '64 Fords too.

they didn't rust out around here, and yet we don't see them.....

And this is a big improvement, right? :)

I totally agree. There was a thread on here a while back with a '57 that this conversion and it looked terrific. The "Bug-Eyed Look" was the one thing about '57 Fords that I never liked. In fact, the only thing better about the '58's were the headlights

I think this is a good example why I'm glad a lot of '57 model cars didn't come with quad headlights. I've actually never been a fan of quad headlights in general.

Yep. Did this to my '57 and haven't regretted it.

IMHO I think the 57 is uglier than 58 no offense intended. I dig the quads but if I had a 58 I would replace the grille to something one piece and fit four tail lights meant for a 61 Fairlane or a 61 falcon.

I wasn't around during the time and I am a chevy guy... my 2 cents

Extinct? You wouldn't know it if you were at Pistons & Paint yesterday, four 58 Ranchwagons, five if you count the Edsel... IMG_3020.JPG IMG_3014.JPG IMG_3034.JPG IMG_3023.JPG IMG_3054.JPG

Sorry, don't know what happened to pictures of the other two. I am sure I took them...

I think the '58 Ford passenger car grille most closely resembles the '58 T-Bird grill, especially with center bar removed like the white car in post #72 immediately above.

One car I'd really love to have would be that Edsel Roundup.

When I was hunting cars, i found plenty of 58 fords. I was looking for 59s, so walked on by. The 58 model year for any make was harder to find. I really wanted a 58 Caddy.I quit hunting about 09 though, when my 59 ElCamino came home.

I've always liked the front of the 58 Fords but hated the taillights and one of the biggest things I like about the 58 Rancheros is that they have the, round, 57 taillights.

  16. I would take a '58 if a nice one came along. There was one for sale a while ago in the HAMB classifieds that was real nice.

The green and white wagon is mine. You have no idea how shocked I was to see that many 58 2 dr wagons in one place. In three years I've only seen 1 other 2dr and 1 4dr in person.

Try p-s-t.com , I've been doing a lot or searching for a complete kit to rebuild the front end on mine and I think I remember seeing them on there.
