This was a photo shoot was taken at the end of the San Fernando Raceway for the Dec. 65' Hot Rod Magazine by Pat Broiler, after the action stuff in black & white he put in a roll of color and got out his trusty ladder and took this neat ' Artsy Shot ' . It sure does give the 37' a different look

May be considered more "picturesque" than "artsy", I never get tired of looking at this.

  18. Thanks but I can't take credit for it. Someone shot my car at the Race of Gents in Wildwood a couple of years ago. I found it on the internet.

    Hello,

This photo of the chopped 28 Ford Delivery was one of the standard angles a photojournalist was supposed to take and include in a submitted photo story for the car mags. I always liked this angle in my own photos and was not surprised when the famous, Tex Smith, made it a mandatory photo for magazine car stories and photos. I liked the angle and with a small 35mm SLR camera, but, it was difficult to lay down and take the shot. When the bigger 220 twin lens reflex cameras came out, it was the perfect set up to put the camera on the ground and look down to focus and all of the stuff photographers are supposed to do for a great shot.

The bigger rear tires and smaller fronts always look good. This shot makes it look a whole lot better for that “artsy,” attitude showing, stance photograph. The ¾ rear shot at eye level is ok, but the lower angle makes the same shot that everyone takes look that much better. The actual name given to this shot is “¾ rear and low.”

In car shows or picnics, you do look a little funny squatting to take this lower angle for that great artsy look. But, your photo is one that stands out later for that last laugh.
