I saw this one as well as Dave Wolks. They were my favorite Merc`s at the show. Even thou the rear end was to high. They did not make my list because I think a car has to be built for at least five years to wear off it`s newness. One car that I mentioned that night that made my list was (even thou it has square headlights)The Canadian Kid. I was about 14 when I first saw it. Chopped, dark gray with scallopes(I love scallopes). Most cars that have scallopes don`t look quite right, but I love the layout on this one. Lowered and bubble skirts, Did I mention I love bubble skirts before. And flame throwers. Being a kid who loved customs, this one made an impression on me. If you can overlook the square headlights, it is a cool car for the timeperiod it was built in. The Merc(white with candy maroon two tone paint)(scallopes)sitting next to the car above almost made my list. I saw it back in the 80`s when it had less chrome on it than it does now. We`ll se, it might still make it. . To bad Ric doesn't have better shots of the car above, the shading doesn`t do the car justice it deserves.

Thanks guys for posting the pic`s. The picture I have of it doesn't have the Merc spears on the fenderskirts, no spotlights, no lake pipes and it has sombrero type hubcaps. It also had the nose up and rear down stance to it also improving the look of the car. That`s my opinion, anyway. It made the car look as if was moving while sitting still. The scallopes on the hood also helped with that look as well.

The COOL 50 Mercs Buick Riv chrome trim doesn't flow quite right with the body lines of the Merc. It looks a little to busy. But it made my list because the impression in made on me in the late 70`s. The promo material(artist renderings) ISCA used of the Merc also made it look cool. Today, I still would love to find the Riv side chrome and put it on my car that I use for my Avatar.

Somebody needs to post a better picture of Dan Olsens Merc from the Omaha metro area. It will make someones list along with Highboy32`s. It was a finalist for GOODGUYS Custom Of The Year a few years back. That was the year the Merc that Bill Ganahl had a hand in won the Title. Which also needs to be posted as well. Unless I missed it.

I really like a '51 rear window in a chopped '51. Lots of guys switch them out for '50's because they are easier, but I think if done right they add more interest to the rear corners of the roof. Granted I've never chopped a Merc, so I can't blame a guy for making the job easier.
