Here is my version. I too have a hard time choosing paint colors, especially because steel looks so good :)

At any rate, I tried to stick to the art deco theme, smoothed the wheels, exagerated the headlights a bit, custom air cleaner, and hood. I dig the exhaust cut out and tried to use it on the hood cutouts as well.

I liked it so much I printed one out for myself. 12 x 18 for the garage wall collection. And one with the color scheme I'll be using on my project.

I'd like to see it with a Gold motor, Gold flake body, and the accents and chassis in a old Ford cream.

Man there are some mad photoshoping skills on the HAMB.

I remember trying to figure out the color for my first car, I xeroxed a polaroid photo of it and colored it with colored pencils until I found the right color.

    AHotRod,
Car looks really good! Don't take this personally. But where did get the idea that cars looked like that in the fiftys and sixties? When you were born, I was racing an Olds powered '40 Ford B/G coupe.Followed by 20 years of AA/FAs and Funnies. Cars that sat like that were rare as hens teeth as comp coupes and sedans, never mind street cars. There is nothing wrong in building cars in this style.AS you say, there are no rules. But it is not really what was going on at that time.During the 50s drag cars kept getting higher and higher, culminating with the "Nose Bleed" attitude gassers and altereds. The only cars that were that low were diggers, and they scraped on rough tracks.

  25. Um, I'm a fan of the gold one, and the zumo red one. Having said that, I'd have to go blackwall on the tires, loose the scollops (they're neat, but not on this), and add the lettering as per the attached.

I'f I had the final call, I'd go the zumo red one with the changes above.......

    Anyhow, your call sir,

    Cheers,

    Drewfus

I was born in 1956, and the attached photos are and were inspiration for my HotRod, as were many photos in a old book named "Cool Cars, Square Roll Bars". This is my personal twist, as I'm not about trying to copy someone elses car, rather than, I preferr to create new and different.
