We all love 1940 Fords, right? I got this pic from a buddy today and it's so cool I have to share it. I knew a couple of the guys pictured, most have done passed away now. My older buddy knew all these guys to some extent even though they were older than him, and he found out a little about the cars. These guys were all involved in whisky hauling back then so all their cars looked a lot alike. Smart way to an alibi, huh? "No sir, it wasn't me, I was at so and so's house, it just looked like my car." Anyway, check out this lineup of 40 coupes. This pic was taken sometime in the late 50's early 60's time frame, and every one of these cars had a Rochester fuel injected 283! I've heard some of the old guys talk about how fast these cars were, the Revenuer's didn't stand a chance! I don't have any idea, nor does my buddy, what happened to these cars. I do know the couple of guys that I knew went with mid 60's Chevy's later on. My wife's grandpa was also a bootlegger, and she knew some of this guys, too, they were friends with him. So, without any more rambling from me, check out this cool lineup of 40 Fords.
Wow , five with 49 Plymouth bumpers. Bet the last guy was still searching for a set. That's a great picture. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow, one could write a short novel with this picture as an inspiration. Think of the shared experience of finding and building this fleet of forties. Think of the adventures that came from using these cars in the manner of the business the owners were involved in. I can just picture these coupes with their engines screaming flying through the night. Just awesome.
What a cool-ass photo and story as well. If you made up posters of that picture, I bet you could sell one to every '40 owner in the country. I'm first in line.
