I would, um, this....ish.

 

Well now hang on, he said hot rod or custom...That's a WHOLE nother ball game!

 

It would be hard to pick just one car. Custom 51 Mercury convert. would be nice but I really think I could have some fun in a Watson style indy roadster.

 

Don't we all?

 

I have ''ALWAYS'' ....and I mean "ALWAYS'' wanted to find a 1953-54 Mack LTL ....they are so rare, and cost a fortune in any condition!....... still makes me starry-eyed....I have a 1957 Peterbilt build now going on couple years, but would trade my Peterbilt in a heartbeat for this Mack LTL!....the "ultimate" car-hauler

Also, ....alongside that, wanted the car Ricky Nelson drove....love that car!!!.....I will buy or build both of them when I win the lottery first thing!!!

 

To me, They're all dream builds.. It's not the car but how you can build it.. If you like the way it's built and others do too, then Man, that's a dream come true.. OK, maybe there are some I'd like to build but I can't afford those....

 

I think a '55 Olds 2-dr, sectioned about 4 inches, maybe channeled a bit with Buick type rear-wheel openings (or just radiused) and an Olds (balanced and blueprinted) under the hood with dual exhausts and a single four barrel. Beefed up transmission and an overdrive that could stand up to the horsepower. Split bench seat inside with leather upholstery just because and a CB radio.

 

Man, I have ALWAYS wanted a Hall-Scott!

Flathead Harley bobber
Square bridge orberndorf in 350 Rigby
And the list goes on and on....

 

Think I'd just finish the coupe. Oh ya..... And buy back all the sweet rides I've owned and sold over the years

 

I guess my "dream build" would be to have an actual shop with lots of room and equipment to redo the vehicles I have in a more righteous manner. Its tiresome having to move cars and parts and other sundry stuff out of the way to do any work, then put it all back everyday.

 

I think that if I were to do a dream build it would have to be a 1939 Mercury in the style of Harry Westergard . With a Lincoln flathead ,3 deuces and a 4speed.LaSalle grille,fender skirts,etc. paint it

I would love to find my Dad's first car, a 1934 Ford Tudor (or one just like it). See picture below taken in 1945. I would do a late 40's hot rod with it. Chopped of course. He said he poked holes in the muffler to give it a good sound. Him and his buddies cruised Woodward Avenue with an old fire extinguisher with pressurized water inside. They could shoot water at the girls and other cars with it like a gigantic squirt gun. He said you could shift it with or without the clutch. I would love to cruise in a car like that.

I think I'd rather have the money to quit my job and just keep working with all the cheap, rusty crap I've got and keep buying instead of sitting here at my desk wishing I was playing with all my rusty legos at home!

I guess I'm already doing a dream build, BUT I'd totally build an early SBC powered 41 Ford coupe ASAP (and someday I probably will) as well as something like this:

 

Interesting thought, if I won your hot rod lottery, I would not build a car, that ship has sailed and sunk for me.(Too Old) My dream purchases, 57 Bel Air 2 door hardtop restomod style (looking now on hold), 32 Dearborn deuce (had a 32 3 window and 29 Highboy Roadster) Been very lucky/fortunate, I've made most of my dreams/goals come true and don't have any thing in particular I'm dreaming about other than prayers for my wife's health, recovery and remission.

 

Nailhead powered 40 Ford coupe, standard or deluxe, with a manually shifted over drive transmission. Traditional dropped front suspension with a buggy sprung open drive banjo rear. I would choose vintage ford color.

 

I have my dream car a 32 Ford roadster but it does not have my dream engine, which would be replacing the Ford 302 with 2x4s for a Chevy 409 with 3x2s. Not trying to ruffle any diehard Ford feathers I'm just a Chevy type person!

 

Something, late 50's early 60's with a drop top and enough juice to make a smile every now and again.

 

Now that's a cool project....

 

I guess if we are dreaming here, I would love to build a 1938 Phantom Corsair.
