Hot Rods Traditional style 32-34 ford fiberglass cars - Any pic's?

Damn!

 

I took my kids to la for spring break and on our way home I saw you flat towing that car! I tried to get I pic but could not get one. it was crazy looking.

 

How did Dee work out as mayor? When I ordered my deuce roadster body, his daughter in law told me it would take "a little longer" since Dee was now mayor and only he built and hung the doors. What with all the things going on with the city council, Dee wasn't building the doors as quick. Not to worry, 11 years later Dee is gone, sadly, but his doors fit and latch just as perfect as the day I mounted and squared the body. Great craftsman, I hope his service to your town was as good!

 

I've been driving this Wescott bodied hiboy 18 + years now. The chassis is original down to the original mechanical brakes. After driving it for 10 years with a B engine, I upgraded to a 34 V8. Paint? It's still in jell coat.

Glass body also. It has only 7,000 miles on it now over the past 10 years. Solid as a rock, never had a stress crack appear.
I did spend several days welding in cage work and other reinforcements.
Don't have to worry about rust is what I like.
Did have to spend months getting it blocked smooth, especially the deck lid. Had tons of waves on the lid but came out nice in the end.

Nice sedan delivery! What size/brand tires and rims are you running, they look great. Getting ready for some new tires on the 32.

This is my first experience with building a 'glass car. The body is very well built and is a hell of a lot more fun than not having a Model 40 while still saving and searching.

 

Slowly stabbing away. Hoping to have paint on her in a couple months. All the other projects are finished. So now dad and I can focus on this turd.

 

Anything new???

 

Does anyone know if Wescott is still building glass bodies. I called about 6 months ago and Carl said he would have to do the building on a 34 if I wanted one. I haven't seen any ads for the bodies in a few years. He built the best bodies in my opinion. I have owned several and they are still going! I bid on one on ebay but didn't win.

 

Yes, Westcott IS still building bodies!
I live 3 blocks from Westcotts. I stopped by last week and Carl was working on a order for one of their 32 phaeton bodies!
If you order it, he WILL build it for you!

Nice looking body with drip rails attached.

 

The body is a BeBop's body out of Tennessee. I went with every option they had, except the fold out windshield(cost over function didn't add up to me). The old guy in the background(aka Dad, aka Best Friend) and I built the chassis using AMS rails. It is going 1940 Ford Mandarin Maroon, wheels painted body color with poverty caps. Axle, bones will be powder coated gloss black, all suspension hardware in front is polished stainless. Worked over Ford 302 with a T5. Building this one as a daily driver, with some decent road trips already planned.

SanfordsOtherSon – Got this pm from ‘37GAS’: “That fiberglass 5 window was built by a guy in Florida about 7 or 8 years ago. He moved to Maine or someplace up there right after I bought his last body built in Florida. The last I heard he was out of business and was trying to sell his molds. The bodies where top notch, I have one.”
