Thought I would start my build thread up on one of my projects. It's been slow going but making some progress. Plan is to have this channeled with a '59 390 Cadillac. The front end is a real dago heavy drop axle with some '40 Ford bones. Not sure if its gonna get a chop yet or not. We'll see how it looks after the channel mock up. Let me know what ya think.

Reinforcing the body before I cut the sub rails for the channel and test fit the frame.

Rough look of the frame at the moment..trying to contour the frame to fit inside the body properly.

Shot of the idea for the front end.

And a look at the engine

Looks like a great start, awesome foundation to a cool car. Love the caddy, what's up for the tranny?

Not 100% sure..normally I have that nailed down, I really like driving 5 speeds. My last project had a 4 speed chevy in it and I always wanted to shift it to 5th but I am trying to keep this pre 60 and those tranny's are getting pretty pricey. Not sure if I am going to forego that and stuff a 5 speed in it and hide it or spend the bux...I will see what comes up during the build and what options I have when I am forced to make a decision..I got tons of items to get to before that.

I know it's been while since my last post but life gets in the way..Have been making some good progress on the sedan. Pictures that follow are the 1st time the frame and body have met. A very exciting time!

Still sitting high and not far enough back..seeing how much if the firewall might need to go.

With a Roush racing banner in the rafters I would look for a blue oval between the rails!... at least it's not a cookie cutter smallblock Chevy ( insert a wink at Porkandbeaner here)!

  16. project looks good so far. If you made your own frame why did you not make it long enough so you don't have to cut the firewall? Do you want to run a stock hood?

Wasn't really looking to make the wheel base super long so I started with mostly stock dimensions in the front as a starting point. That might have to change, I only had enough time to move the motor on to the rails and see what my initial measurements got me..yeah it's high and really far forward right now but it need to go way down and back just didn't have materials to set it up safely and leave it in any position but this. It's getting a 34 ford car grille in front of all this so there will be a custom hood eventually I believe as well

if you flip the firewall around backwards you get lots of room and it looks pretty stock yet.

Early Cadillac is one of the few vintage motors that even look great without dress-ups..just like some chicks that don't need makeup :)

.....and they really do fit well in early cars.(the engine and the chicks :) )

Been making some progress on the sedan over the past few weeks. Trying to nail down tire/wheel combination ride height and stance.
