Event Coverage Mountain Moonshine Festival- Dawsonville , Ga

Dwight Cass' '39 Ford moonshine car was at the show (see pictures above) and so was Dwight. I talked to him about the car and was told he purchased it from the builder (who he knew) back in the '60s. It is the most awesome moonshine car I have ever seen. He was busted for moonshining 50 years ago (according to legend....not sure if in this car) and like Danny I am surprised to hear of his recent arrest.

 

Great show but I just wish they would do something about the stand still traffic issue. One an spend literally hours to go the last three miles if you get there after 9am.

 

I plan to put this on my bucket list for next year. This year I was putting what little get up and go I have left into some changes to BGII, my roadster, before RWYB @ Reynolds, GA on11/07/15.Need to take my '40 coupe up there, and I have a friend who lives only 12 miles away thay gave me a standing invitation to stay at his house while I'm up here for the festival.

 

I also talked to Dwight and he did not act like anything was wrong... He always enjoyed explaining the valve cover alterations to those who asked.

I was there about 150' behind the DJ trailer, I was the flat black 1940 Chevrolet Pickup with the airbrushed Skull Flame job. I got there before daylight and still didn't make it in the main parking lot. I will be going down on Friday and staying all night this next year and making a weekend out of it. I loved seeing the old moonshine runner cars.

 

There was also a big All Ford show and every car you can think of at the Museum. Big show all around...worth the trip.

I see that Dwight Cass' Caddy runs one of those
"Eskedeeren" cams. No wonder that coupe hauls ass.

 

In 2016 wee need to have a HAMB get together or meet and greet .. It is worth the traffic hassel to see all these great cars. Not as many rat rods as some one stated on page one of this thread. I will try to bring a 55 ford{Y block} next year.. Bobby....

 

What in the heck is an Eskedeeren cam ?

Friend owns the maroon 37 chevy coupe number 4, a great tribute to his famous dad who I was proud to have helped back in the day.

 

look at the data poster by Dwights car. It a missprint or missspel of the Cam makers name.

 

It will be here soon now. We all need to get together. Maybe that Friday night cruise in before the show.

Do you have a link to a site for the Moonshine Festival? I've always wanted to go, but now that I have a nice '40 coupe, travel type mobility scooter that will break down and fit in the trunk of that '40 coupe, plus a friend who has a roomy home with a welcome mat out for me 12 miles away, it has become stupid to fight it!
What is date of Festival this year? Need to start trying to coordinate my Fall events dates.

Try coming in 400 to 136 to 9 it brings you the back way in and I left there at 2:30 and made it back to Gainsville by 3:10,
