  3. Oh man, look the difference between Bunker Hill, LA, in the 1940s compared to now...what a waste!

390 was a real pig. We do help in the stopping end of things now for the 61-64 T-Bird's.

Well having 4 up gives it some excuse. A few more other cars of the same era coming later with HEMIS with similar times.

That car would be worth a zillion bucks now. I wonder if it was saved? Gary

You might be able to sell this BS to someone who wasn't around and racing in those days, but those of us who were know better. 390's are boat anchors and in a T-Bird, what a joke.

In the late '70s my brother and I had a '62 Ford Unicab SWB with a 292/stick. Went to junkyard bought a '63 T-Bird 390 and '66 C-6, Dropped them in the '62. Would pass anything but a gas station. Sold the motor/trans to a guy who wanted to put them in a '67 Ford F-100. I needed something to put in the '62 Unicab, How about a '67 Chevy truck 250 six banger with a '68 chevy sw 3 spd with a J.C. Whitney $10 shifter, looks like today's Mr.Gasket shifter. Weld up some frame mounts, junkyard drive shaft, J.C.Whitney Flexible Exhaust Tubing, Fresh Brush Paint, and Instant $500 truck.

Well a '63 T-Bird with the 300HP 390 was good for a 16.6 sec quarter mile and with the 340HP version was 16.2. I submit that the Hemi and Wedge Mopars were significantly faster. Our professionally built '62 ImpalaSS 409 was doing in the 13's and we would get stomped by the Mopars a lot of the time. There were no 390's even close. The Ford guys were running 406's at that time.

Anyone know what LSR this is. I have a few old toys that were my dad's, he'd be 80 now, and I've wondered if this one was based on a real car. It's well used but you can still see it's original shape...kinda IMG_3456.JPG FullSizeRender-55.jpg .

I know, that's why I asked. Didn't the picture show up in my post? It's there on my end but evidently not for everyone else.
    Thanks.

    Thanks, I looked it up.
It's the Golden Arrow, and it's not a Sunbeam but designed by an ex Sunbeam engineer Captain John Samuel Irving and built for ex Sunbeam driver Major Henry Segrave. . Ran 231 in the flying mile at Daytona in '29.
