Hey all, just got back this evening from The Race of Gentlement, West, 2016. I've been to quite a few car events over the years, but I have to say, this was without a doubt the best event I've ever attended. Hats off to the organizers for pulling it off, despite the difficult weather conditions. (if you want to skip my rambling, here's the link) https://flic.kr/s/aHskLDTAbu TROG West featured some of the best hot rods and vintage motorcycles from around the world, even some which were pulled out of museums. You didn't just get to walk around them like any other car show, here you got to see them race full throttle down the beach! To see these vintage machines race again, to do what they were built for, was priceless. One of my favorite aspects of the show was when I was down near the finish line watching the drivers and riders arrive and wait to be escorted back to the staging lanes. There were people from all over the world, Switzerland, England, France, Japan, Canada, etc. (sorry if I've missed a few) that came for this epic event. As they arrived in the waiting area they were all full of smiles, high fives, fist bumps and reveling in the camaraderie. Witnessing the fun everyone was having and getting to see these machines popping and smoking and making such a magical ruckus was something I'll never forget.
WOW. Thanx for the pix. Glad to see the images of the Navarro car, especially, and the 67, a faded red/orange A coupe that has been a long distance favorite of mine for a long time (ie never seen it in person). Gary
Excellent pictures...thanks for the link. It looks real low key and no Brand marketing..hope it stays the same.
Great shots and thanks for sharing; no doubt you had a great time. I was following along on Instagram all weekend enjoying the photos and videos as well. Such a unique event that truly captures what we love.
No secret that I'm a HUGE fan of the Navarro car. That being said....man does it sound good! A different kind of pissed off. Thanks.
Holy Rumblefest...Thanks TBomb. Surreal event rain or shine. Videos just help make it even more real.
Thanks for the kind words. It was amazing to witness all of that. All of the credit goes to the organizers of the event and the supporting car clubs that helped run it, especially through that rainy weather and high tide; I was just fortunate to be able to attend and photograph it.
Hello, Great photos and coverage... I like the gloomy weather as it makes the cars stand out without all of the shiny stuff. The cars were made for those types of days. Good eye and photo angles. I am sure the local quick spray wash place was packed afterwards...salt does wonders to metal... Thank you... Jnaki
Very good coverage...nice shot selection; you really give a good feeling for the overall event. Thanks.
Did the Flathead Cadillac powered roadster run? I couldn't make out the Cad motor in any of the pictures. Great pictures, wish I cold attend. deChrome
