This is not mine, but I saw it at a cruise-in.

My dad had a 36' Olds 2dr sedan in the 80's. It was at his shop out in the sticks and some scumbag cut the fence and stole the doors and hood and also some of the front sheetmetal from his 40 Studebaker gasser. He was turning the Olds into a sedan delivery at the time. Looked for 3 years for replacements, never did find anything. Ended up selling the shell and that guy ended up junking it... Still have the Olds grille and taillights around somewhere...(not for sale though... got my eye on a 36 Olds ragtop that needs them ;) )

The 36 is a neat year, kinda a cusp car. They eliminated the wood in the body's by 36. The doors still had wood...

On the grilles, there was an aftermarket grille made in the 40's/50's that was cast aluminum. These polish up nicely but the lines in the bars of the grille are faint and the grille needs the flashing removed. If you take your time with one of these aftermarket grilles, you can make it a nice grille. The price on these are rapidly going up as are the originals... Just be carefull that you don't spend the original grille $$$ for one of the aftermarket ones.

I had a black 36 Olds 2 door slantback sedan that I sold around 1997. I saw it for sale again at Pomona about a year later, but lost track of it. I'd like to get it back some day, it was a great car.

  6. My friend has a stock '36 4dr sedan in great condition. We cruise it around occasionally.

  9. If the olds is like the chevy of the same generation you have to remove the flywheel to get the bellhousing off.
